When you think of a cake, you probably picture a fluffy sphere slathered in creamy icing. Maybe some sprinkles or other decorations are in your schema.
However, there are so many other creative cakes out there that have absolutely nothing to do with cake batter, and the results are that of sorcery.
Take this koi fish pond cake for example.

Instagrammer and home baker @petrichoro made it for her dad for Father’s Day.
Her transparent-like cake is made from agar, a plant-based gelatin made from red algae.

She also layered the cake with blueberry mousse, white chocolate mousse, and black sesame chiffon cake to represent all the different components and layers of a koi pond.
Everything in her cake is completely edible.

Yep. The fish, lily pads, and cattail stems can all be eaten.
But how does one eat something so intricate and pretty?!
Grace isn’t the only Instgrammer who’s given the artisy gelatin koi fish pond cakes a go.

Sydney-based Siew Boon of Jelly Alchemy also makes mesmerizing transparent cakes with an array of 3D designs inspired by nature.
Making a cake like this is no small feat.

According to Siew Boon , each cake can take up to 5 hours to complete. Not only does it take a lot of patience, but it also takes a sharp eye to detail to get the perfect arrangement.
I mean—I’m speechless!

The way the lighting shines through the cake makes it look like a glistening pond.
I don’t know about you, but I could stare at these cakes all day.

There’s no difference between art and baking here.
We’re not sure what these taste like, but Siew Boon’s cakes come in fruity flavors like lychee, peach, pineapple, as well as coconut and rose.

I imagine it would be like eating a giant boba jelly topping.
It’s hard to believe something so beautiful can actually be cut into, and then eaten!

This is proof that bakers are truly wizards.
