Bernie Sanders supporters have joined forces on Twitter to make one thing abundantly clear: despite what you may have heard, people do , in fact, like the man.
According to CNN , the hashtag #ILikeBernie recently led the list of trending terms on the popular social media site after Hillary Clinton claimed “nobody likes” the 2020 Democratic presidential nominee.

Clinton reportedly made the comment in an upcoming Hulu documentary titled, “Hillary.”
“Nobody likes him,” she says in the film during an interview with The Hollywod Reporter . “He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him. Nobody wants to work with him, he got nothing done.”
“He was a career politician,” Clinton continues. “It’s all just baloney, and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.”
Many of Sanders’ supporters were outraged by Clinton’s scathing comments and took to Twitter to clear up any confusion.
“@HillaryClinton thanks for the motivation,” this user wrote. “Every time you trash him, I will give more love. #ILikeBernie.”
“What I love about being a Bernie supporter is that we’re not voting for him, we’re voting for the way he has radicalized us,” another user added. “If I see that you support Bernie it’s because we have a collective policy base we want to push the world to, not a cult of personality. #ILikeBernie.”
Some pro-Sanders accounts pointed out that Clinton’s criticism will only help him gain even more supporters.
“#ILoveBernie,” this user said. “And we were right about you @HilaryClinton. While it is true that women get painted as shrill and unlikable, and that is unfair, he really IS more likable than you and that has zero to do with gender. He also never painted you that way.”
Other, much bigger voices chimed in on Twitter to show their support for Sanders as well.
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, who is a frequent Sanders ally, simply tweeted , “I like Bernie”, while billionaire Tom Steyer wrote, “At the risk of getting in the middle of it — I like @BernieSanders.”
“Now let’s move on, America,” he added.
Sanders himself has since responded to Clinton’s comments and appeared unfazed by them.
While heading into the Senate to participate in President Trump’s impeachment trial on Tuesday, Sanders told reporters, “On a good day, my wife likes me, so let’s clear the air on that one.”
In a statement , the presidential hopeful emphasized that he is not focused on Clinton’s comments, but rather “on a monumental moment in American history: the impeachment trial of Donald Trump. Together, we are going to go forward and defeat the most dangerous president in American history.”
