25-year-old Texan entrepreneur Isaac French ‘s love for nature inspired him to build a cabin chain generating $500,000/year. As a child, he developed a love for construction due to his father’s profession and infused his passion for nature into his Live Oak Lake hotel & lodging business.
French ventured out at 23 and decided to make a name for himself through hospitality . The pandemic made the Texan real estate market ripe in 2020, and the young man took advantage. Two years later, his investment is yielding fruits as more people buy into his nature-immersive vacation cabins.
A Sweet Escape In Waco, Texas
During an interview with Business Insider , French shared his inspiring story about his journey into real estate. He invested $138,000 into five acres of land in Waco, Texas, a two-hour drive from hotspots Austin, Dallas, and Fort Worth.
The idea was to create a sweet escape for the surrounding residents through his modern Scandinavian cabins. On the outside, they’re rustic enough to make you feel grounded, but the interior is modern to make you feel comfortable.
Help From Family
Fast-forward to Spring 2021, French erected his seven 550 – 650 sq. ft. cabins on the plot of land and christened it Live Oak Lake. It cost the then-24-year-old $2.5 million to complete his brainchild, so he got help from his family, who became minority partners in the business.
His father also involved his construction company giving French access to his credit line. Within nine months, he concluded construction, including extras like a motorable road and an artificial lake.
Pristine Waters – A Lake, Hot Tub, And A Pool
Each cabin in Live Oak Lake has a hot tub and a pool with beautiful state-of-the-art lighting and plumbing, bringing the business’ value to $3.1 million. He’s doing well for someone who learned about Short-term rentals on the internet (shout out to https://m.youtube.com/c/Robuilt
on YouTube and search engines).
French built the cabins around the artificial lake, so they’re close but not detached. Despite having the same architectural plan, they’re all unique models giving each occupant a different yet similar experience.
