Haribo has urgently recalled packets of gummies after they were found to contain cannabis following several reports of people falling ill.
Family members reported feeling unwell
It was reported that the substance was found when several members of the same family, including adults and children, called the police saying they felt unwell after eating Happy Cola F!ZZ gummies.
The food was investigated
The incident took place in the Netherlands, with an investigation into the ingredients of the sweets being launched right away, as per the Daily Mail.
A spokesperson for the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) confirmed the situation.
Cannabis was found in the batch

The NVMA, which was involved in probing the food, told Dutch broadcaster SBS6 that “samples were taken and cannabis was found in them.”
“We immediately contacted Haribo and they issued a safety warning,” the NVMA spokesperson said.
They’re still investigating how this happened
The NVMA spokesperson also added, “How the cannabis ended up in the sweets is still unknown. The police are investigating this further.”
Haribo said earlier that there were products in circulation that could cause health issues such as dizziness.
It was only in a certain batch of products
A spokesperson for the sweets company confirmed information about the affected products, saying the substance was only found in a specific product and batch in the Netherlands.
“The incident is contained to the Netherlands, to a specific product and batch,” they said.
They’re recalling the batch
“The safety of our consumers is our highest priority and HARIBO takes this incident very seriously, which is why a recall has been issued in the Netherlands,” the company spokesperson went on.
“HARIBO is working closely with the authorities to support their investigation and establish the facts around the contamination.”
They confirmed the batch number
The company recalled Happy Cola F!ZZ packages with the production code L341-4002307906.
They also said that other batches of Happy Cola F!ZZ as well as other Haribo products should be safe to eat.
Consumers bought it were asked to send it to the company
Haribo asked consumers who had already bought packages from the affected batch to send them to the company, not return them to the store. They would then be issued a refund for their purchase.
The size of the contaminated batch is still unclear.
