Doing their part to help during the COVID-19 crisis, Greyhound has announced a new program to help front-line workers get where they need to be.
‘Rides for Responders’ was launched on April 22.

It provides free transportation for medical staff and first responders who need to travel during the pandemic, providing them with two one-way tickets at no cost.
“We are so thankful for their sacrifices and we want to be able to help in whatever way we can.”

Chief Commercial Officer for Greyhound, Rob Friedman, gave a statement regarding the new program, “These frontline heroes are putting their lives at risk to provide support and expertise not only in their communities, but they are also volunteering to travel across the country to help communities being hit hardest during the pandemic.”
The list of covered professions is pretty extensive, meaning Greyhound put a lot of thought into who might be travelling during this time.

Tickets are provided to any doctor, nurse, paramedic, EMT, medical technician, firefighter, member of law enforcement or mortician that is volunteering and needs to travel to their worksite.
Rides for Responders isn’t the only program Greyhound has for free rides, nor the only one being utilized during the pandemic.

‘Home Free’ is a long-running program Greyhound has in partnership with National Runaway Safeline. It provides free tickets home for runaway and homeless youth. With the stay-at-home orders, Home Free has seen a large uptick in uses, and provided 28% more tickets in the past 2 months than they did in 2019.
As the only remaining national bus network, and with this program, Greyhound is providing an invaluable service.

More from Friedman’s statement, “Transportation is what we do best; with this program, we can take out the hassle and worry about how these medical personnel get to their destination so they can be rested and focus on their important task at hand.”
