On January 26th, 2020, the world lost a legend.
In Southern California, Kobe Bryant and his daughter were killed in a helicopter crash.

Sadly, Kobe Bryant passed away January 26, 2020.
He was traveling with passengers in his private helicopter, and when it crashed, it, unfortunately, left no survivors.
Altogether, nine people passed away in the helicopter crash.
Baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife, Keri, and daughter, Alyssa, were also on the helicopter and passed away with Kobe.
Christina Mauser, an assistant girls basketball coach, also died in the crash.
California is mourning the loss of all these people immensely and will feel this loss deeply for years to come.
Among the victims, Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna was one of the other passengers in the helicopter.
They were on their way to basketball practice when the helicopter went down.
They are survived by Kobe’s wife, Vanessa, and his three other daughters, Natalia, Bianca, and Capri.
The news is completely heartbreaking, and we cannot imagine what Vanessa, her children, and their family are going through.
Immediately, tributes to the major athlete began to pour in.
Celebrities and fans alike were shocked and saddened by the news and took to all forms of social media to express their sadness.
Some people on Twitter were asking for the Grammys to be postponed in wake of the deaths.
But the show did indeed go on, whether people agreed with it or not.
Luckily, they were filled with tributes to Kobe Bryant.
Although the show still went on, that doesn’t mean that the show and the stars weren’t addressing it in their own way.
Some of them, including Lizzo and the Jonas Brothers, refused to be interviewed following the news.
The Jonas Brothers may not have given an interview, but they still showed their respect on the red carpet.
They each wore purple bows to represent Bryant, and Priyanka Chopra included Bryant’s number in her manicure.
The Grammys opened their show with a touching tribute to the star player.
Alicia Keys, who hosted the show, sang a touching song and gave a beautiful speech telling the audience to keep their loved ones close to them.
The Grammys are held at the Staples Center.
Considering the fact that Bryant basically made that stadium what it is, it makes sense that the Grammys would want to pay tribute to the legend.
“We are literally standing here heartbroken in the house that Kobe Bryant built,” Alicia Keys said.
Her opening monologue had the entire room in tears.
The tribute was delivered flawlessly of course.
But there was another thing that got to fans after his tribute was done.
Both of Kobe’s jerseys were to be displayed throughout the night at the show.
Needless to say, this was an incredibly touching display by the Grammys.

There is nothing worse in the world than losing a loved one.
