Is there anything in this world that’s cuter than animal interactions? No, probably not. It’s especially amazing when two unlikely species end up becoming friends (or at least, they act friendly toward one another).
One TikToker has done us all a favor by documenting the sweet friendship that’s been forming between her golden retriever puppy and a local deer that likes to swing by the yard and hang out from the other side of the fence. And yes, it sounds like it came directly out of a Disney movie or a children’s storybook.

The dogs ( @kapandchief ) have all sorts of fun, adorable moments. But none of them have been capturing the hearts of viewers quite like the friendship between Kap, the younger dog, and a deer that occasionally appears on the other side of the fence in their yard. In several TikToks, Kap can be seen sitting around outdoors, waiting for the deer (which Kenzie later begins calling Ms. Deer).
She doesn’t always show up, but Kap gets incredibly excited when she does. He seems genuinely happy to see his friend!
In One TikTok, the Deer Comes By With the Rest of Her Herd
The TikTok shows Kap excitedly (and adorably) trotting toward the end of the yard, where several deer can be seen through the chain-link fence. Though the pup is full of excitement and energy, the deer are calm and don’t seem spooked by him one bit.
As Kenzie jokes in the title of the TikTok, it seems that a bit of romance may be forming between the dog and his favorite deer. After all, she did take her family to meet him.
In a Later Video, Kenzie Claims That “My Dog and This Deer Have Fallen in Love”
The next TikTok summarizes the story between Kap and the deer. Different clips play, which show the deer coming to the same part of the fence on most days. The deer seems fairly cautious at first, but becomes less and less cautious the more she visits the dog.
Captions on the screen state that the deer will have to leave after a time, but “she is back again the next day.” Talk about a commitment.
