Kevin Hunter may be other things, but he is best known as the longtime ex-husband of American broadcaster and writer Wendy Williams. Kevin has made the headlines repeatedly in the last few years for various reasons. Some weeks back, his name was in the news again. Sadly, this time, it was for the wrong cause, as he was heavily criticized after publicly questioning if Ashanti went under the knife. Here are the details.
Inside Kevin’s Triggering Comment
In December 2022, the television producer used his Instagram story as an outlet to pose questions to his followers, including his observations about another woman’s physical appearance. Kevin posted a throwback picture of singer-songwriter Ashanti and questioned if she had any cosmetic work done. The post captured by The Shade Room read:
“Ion kno…that’s alotta weight gain since 2007. No hate queen but BODY DONE?”
Netizens React To Kevin’s Post
Not long after Kevin shared the post, netizens fired back at him, pointing out the unnecessary need to ask about the singer’s weight gain in public. One user noted that Kevin was weird and corny to make such an unprovoked comment. A second netizen confessed that they would question Kevin’s level of intelligence if he expected someone from 2007 to look the same in 2022.
A third person commented, “15 years? He of all people should know how things can change in 15 years. He went from having Wendy’s money to broke. So sir, sit down!”
A fourth user shared the same sentiment, adding that Kevin commenting on another woman’s body to gain attention was inappropriate.
Kevin Reacts To Netizens’ Comments
Not long after he came under fire, Kevin shared another post making it clear he didn’t mean to diss Ashanti with his question while expressing his love for her. He began by describing the singer as a beautiful Black woman before noting that there were a number of positive posts he made that nobody ran with.
More On Kevin’s Defense
Kevin further explained his reasoning for assuming Ashanti went under the knife. According to him, it wasn’t uncommon for people to have surgery in this present day and time. Next, Kevin explained that his question was for his page, adding that he wasn’t a blogger or trying to disrespect Ashanti in any way.
The former Wendy Williams Show producer ended the rant by praising the singer and her “natural assets.” In his words,”I was merely posing a question. SALUTE to her and all her accomplishments. Errbody CALM DOWN.”
Meanwhile, Ashanti is yet to comment on Kevin’s observations about her body.
