It’s finally here! After months of speculation , countless rumors, and unfettered debate, Rosario Dawson made her long-awaited debut in Chapter 13 of The Mandalorian .
Much to the delight of Star Wars fans, she is indeed playing a live-action version of Ahsoka Tano! So what does this mean for the series?

Let’s start by answering one very crucial question: who is Ahsoka Tano?
Ahsoka Tano first appeared in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated film back in 2008 , and later in the The Clone Wars series. Ahsoka’s powers were discovered by the great Jedi Master, Plo Koon, and she was taken to the Force Temple for instruction.
Ahsoka’s superior fighting skills, as well as her obvious command of The Force, made her stand out from the rest. Shortly thereafter, she met with Master Yoda to begin training as a Jedi.
She was made apprentice to one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy.
Ahsoka Tano was the Padawan (student) of Anakin Skywalker . In case that name doesn’t ring any bells, here’s a small refresher on canonical Star Wars history for you:
Anakin Skywalker was the Padawan of Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi; he is the father of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa. Anakin would also go on to terrorize the galaxy as the evil Sith Lord, Darth Vader.
So why does Ahsoka matter to Din Djarin and The Child?
In the final episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars , Ahsoka is fighting to help liberate Mandalore . She may very well have been one of the soldiers who saved Din Djarin as a young boy.
Let’s also not forget that Ahsoka has a personal relationship with Master Yoda; she may finally provide some much-needed backstory on The Child. Is he a descendent of Yoda? Could he be a clone?
Could we be heading toward some ultimate showdown of Dark versus Light?
Ahsoka also has a unique ability to harness the Light Side of the Force, in a way that no Jedi has ever been known to do. She can literally ‘ cleanse ‘ the Dark Side of the Force.
Moff Gideon, we all know, is obsessed with the Jedi and wields one of the greatest known weapons in the galaxy, known as the Dark Saber. It was made by Tarre Vizsla , the first Mandalorian to become a Jedi Knight.
It’s clear that Din Djarin, Moff Gideon, and Ahsoka Tano are all connected in some way.
Could it be that Mando is a direct descendent of Tarre Vizsla? Will Ahsoka cleanse the Dark Saber and restore it to the order of the Mandalorian? Was that really Bobba Fett that we saw back in Chapter 9 and if so — how is he going to factor into all of this?
With so many questions still to be answered, fans have begun pouring in with theories of their own.
For instance, could we the convergence of multiple *Star Wars* storylines?
Sabine Wren and Ezra Bridger were two principal characters in the Clone Wars and Rebels series. Sabine and Ahsoka were together the last time we saw them, so what’s happened in the interim?
Is Ezra Bridger still alive, and if so — where? With so many loose ends left to tie up, it seems that there can only be one logical explanation. There’s going to be a spin-off of The Mandalorian .
I’m not normally one who advocates for sequels, but a story revolving around Ahsoka could be the breath of fresh air *Star Wars* fans so desperately need!
The mythology around Ahsoka’s character is incredibly unique. She was the first, and for a long time, the only woman in the entire order of Jedi Knights.
Ahsoka helped inspire an entire generation of young girls. For the first time ever, they were able to see themselves in the Star Wars universe as the hero of the story.
