“9 to 5” is one of Dolly Parton’s biggest claims to fame. It’s the theme song for those of us who live the exciting existence of the Monday to Friday workweek.
So when I saw Dolly’s song was the background of a new Super Bowl commercial, I was almost inclined to actually watch the Super Bowl.

Thankfully, one of my few good uses of the internet is the ability to watch these elusive commercials without having to sit through three hours of football — which sounds awful if you ask me.
However, it seems the new commercial isn’t getting the same reaction as most of Dolly’s projects.
When it comes to Dolly Parton, I think we can all agree she is *the greatest* of all time.
Loving Dolly for a human is like breathing oxygen, or paying taxes — it’s mandatory.
So when Dolly released her new commercial for the website developing company Square Space, I’m sure they thought it would be a hit.
After all, doesn’t everyone love *everything* Dolly does?
However, the commercial is getting the cold shoulder from fans on social media.
The commercial features a reimagined version of Dolly’s “9 to 5” to promote people’s passion side projects while managing their normal, day jobs.
The song “5 to 9” promotes working two jobs with lyrics such as “Working 5 to 9, you’ve got passion and a vision. Cuz it’s hustlin’ time, whole new way to make a livin’. Gonna change your life, do something that gives it meaning.”
The commercial, linked below, did not go over well with fans.
“Dystopian as hell that a relatable worker’s rights anthem got turned into an endorsement of squeezing out productivity out of every second of your life,” tweeted one user . “This sucks and is so tone deaf during a time of record unemployment and financial insecurity.”
“This is a [expletive] embarrassment,” tweeted another .
“Why’d you do this to dolly?” asked one fan.
Needless to say, the commercial wasn’t received well by many fans.
“Imagine glorifying needing a side hustle just to not starve when people could feed a family of four on a single job 70 years ago,” agreed another.
However, some fans felt it was more of a celebration of people’s passion projects.
“I think it’s more about ditching the grind and going after your dream job. Their slogan is ‘make your 5 to 9 full time’,” explained one fan.
