Many of us grew up watching the Harry Potter movies, and while the whole cast is wildly talented, it’s often hard to separate them from the characters they played for 10 years.
Fans with a knowledge of tattoos were quick to point out that Emma’s new ink was obviously temporary.
The outline of the temporary tattoo is super noticeable once it’s pointed out.
We still love Emma for unabashedly supporting Time’s Up yet again on the red carpet.
Once the initial shock wore off, people began noticing that something else was off about the tat.

The apostrophe in “Time’s Up” was noticeably absent from Emma’s new ink.
Of course, people couldn’t help but make tons of jokes about how Hermione never would have made this kind of mistake.
I feel like it’s pretty unlikely that Emma Watson designed this tattoo herself, but okay.
Obviously, the punctuation error was a harmless mistake.
But of course, countless internet trolls attacked her for everything from her intelligence, all the way to her political beliefs.
The internet really sucks sometimes.
Emma Watson is one of the most poised, brilliant, and talented actresses around, and this tiny flub doesn’t change that.
Emma is a staunch supporter of education for girls, literacy, feminism, and was even named a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador.
It’s annoying that some people were more concerned with trying to tear Emma down for a tiny error, rather than focusing on her message.
Her choice to support Time’s Up so publicly is brave, and we are grateful for that.
It takes a lot for self-professed grammar snobs to get off their high horse, but this outrage managed to do the trick.
Clearly we need to spend more time listening to people who call themselves “angry feminist killjoys.”
Yeah! You tell that media for reporting on the spelling mistake…oh, wait a second.
In my defense, I’m trying to point out that there’s a more important conversation to be had, so hopefully I’m off the hook.
I get that everyone online is a grammar expert, but if that’s really what you’re choosing to focus on here, then you’ve completely missed the point.
Watson has championed gender equality for years.
She’s worked tireless with #HeForShe, the United Nations’ solidarity movement.
Here she is in 2016, heading to the UN Headquarters to “formulate solutions that will realize equality in every boardroom, classroom, and capitol building around the world.”
Her Instagram often shows her participating in Our Shared Shelf, an intersectional, femist book club.
She’s even hidden copies of the books she’s reading around for people to discover feminist literature out the world.
Earlier this year, she brought activist Marai Larasi as her date to the Golden Globes.
She also wore black to show solidarity with Time’s Up.
“There is no question that #TimesUp should be and will be a global movement,” wrote Watson on Instagram in January.
She desribes it as “A movement that is defined and led by those affected by the problem, not by those in power.”
She went on to describe Larasi as “the best date” on “the most meaningful red carpet.”
She went on to say, “I am so proud to say I work with #Imkaan and the End Violence Against Women Coalition and to be learning from you.”
To celebrate International Women’s Day, she posted a picture of herself rocking this amazing jacket.
The back reads “Girls just wanna have fundamental human rights,” and we need to know where we can get our hands on one.
Watson isn’t just out here virtue signalling because it helps with PR.
She’s doing the work, and she’s actively trying to make the world a better place.
She hosts panels and uses her platform over and over again to raise the voices of women.
But hey, she forgot an apostrophe once. So let’s just focus on that.
Emma, of course, responded to the controversy in the best possible way.
We can now add hilarious to the list of things that make Emma Watson so great. We can’t help but love a queen who isn’t afraid to laugh at herself.
But because Emma Watson can’t catch a break, fans found one more thing in her red carpet look to drag her for.

To be quite honest, I think we have all ended up with unfortunately short bangs by cutting them ourselves at least once.
