Emma Watson opened up in an interview with Vogue about how she is happy to be embracing the single girl life. She calls it “being self-partnered”.
In an interview for December’s issue of Vogue, Emma Watson candidly opened up about how she feels about being single, and it’s surprisingly refreshing.
She began by explaining that she is having to come to grips with turning 30.

“I was like, ‘Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? This is not a big deal,'” she said.
“Cut to 29, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I feel so stressed and anxious.”
“And I realize it’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around.”
She explained that there are suddenly certain societal standards that are seemingly more pressing once you’re about to turn 30.
“If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband,” she said.
“If you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30,” she went on.
“And you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out”.
“There’s just this incredible amount of anxiety.”
Ironically, Emma finds her new role in “Little Women” (which is coming to theaters on December 25th) to be relative.
She detailed just how the film reflects her personal outlook.
“With Meg’s character, her way of being a feminist is making the choice”.
“Because that’s really, for me anyway, what feminism is about,” she said.
“Her choice is that she wants to be a full-time mother and wife.”
“To Jo [Saoirse Ronan], being married is really some sort of prison sentence,” she explained .
“But Meg says, ‘You know, I love him [John Brooke, who is played by James Norton]”.
“And I’m really happy and this is what I want. And just because my dreams are different from yours, it doesn’t mean they’re unimportant.”
She then explained what it’s been like working alongside her “Little Women” co-stars, and how they too consider themselves actor-activists.
“What was really nice about working with Laura Dern and Meryl Streep was that the three of us knew each other way before we did Little Women ,” she said .
“We met in activist spaces,” she said.
“So we had this allyship and solidarity as activists that had been part of a certain movement before we ever worked together.”
Anyway, Emma eventually dove into how she feels about being almost 30 and still single, and it’s surprisingly refreshing!
She has a positive disposition for something that is often such a sensitive topic.
She revealed that she had always been a bit skeptical of those who say that they’re single and happy — until now.
“I never believed the whole ‘I’m happy single’ spiel,” she admitted .
“I was like, ‘This is totally spiel,'” she said. “It took me a long time, but I’m very happy [being single].”
“I call it being self-partnered,” she added .
