Rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs gave an answer that made the judge laugh during the court proceedings which took place on Tuesday, June 24.
He declined to testify
The 55-year-old declined to testify at his trial, with his defense team resting its case on Tuesday without calling forth a single witness.
The judge asked him a question
When Judge Arun Subramanian asked Combs how he was feeling, he responded, “I’m doing great, your honor.”
“I’ve been wanting to tell you thank you, you’re doing an excellent job,” Combs added.
This made the judge laugh
Combs’ response made the judge laugh as he received the rapper’s compliment.
His defense rested its case after only 23 minutes by reading a series of text messages between Combs and Cassie Ventura, who is now his ex-girlfriend.
The messages were read into the record
In one of the messages, which were read into the record, Combs wrote, “You think you can [Freak-Off] without getting high? Lol.”
“Yeah I’ll just have to be at my level and what is good for me,” Ventura’s reply read, according to the defense counsel’s reading.
Closing argument are expected Thursday
The prosecution did not offer a rebuttal of those messages. Closing arguments on the case are expected to begin Thursday, June 26, as per People.
While jury deliberations could begin as early as Friday, they are more likely to start the following Monday.
