Should I intervene when my 16 year old sister-in-law reads explicit books?

I tried to protect my sister-in-law from mature books, but now she’s mad at me. AITA?

I tried to protect my 16-year-old sister-in-law, but did I go too far?
We were visiting my in-laws and my sister-in-law was telling me about all of the books she had recently read and bought as we both like reading. Upon further inspection, I noticed some of the books were quite explicit and didn’t have the healthiest romances for a 16-year-old. I informed my husband, and he told his parents, leading to my mother-in-law confiscating the books. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law is mad at me because she isn’t getting the books back and is no longer allowed to buy whatever books she wants. Did I step too far when I tried to protect her? This post has sparked a variety of reactions – let’s take a look!
