Harry Potter fans are mourning the loss of Robbie Coltrane, who played the beloved Hagrid in the magical films. It was announced on Friday that the actor had passed away. He was 72.
While many fans have taken to social media, Robbie’s co-star — the Harry to his Hagrid — Daniel Radcliffe, has posted in honor of him.
On Friday, it was announced that “Harry Potter” actor Robbie Coltrane had passed away.
Appearing in the HBO Max special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts , the Scottish actor recalled his time in the beloved films and what Hagrid meant to the Wizarding World.
“Everybody in the world would like a really big, huge, strong, good man on their side, simple as that,” he said at the time, as per CNN.
“That’s the attraction of Superman and these things. Hagrid was always obviously the good guy, wasn’t he?”
Now, Robbie’s “Harry Potter” co-star, Daniel Radcliffe, is remembering his friend.
“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set,” the actor said in a statement obtained by Page Six.
“I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up.”
“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man,” he concluded.
RIP.
