Becoming a dad is one of the hardest things a man can experience. Thankfully, there are dads who have gone through it and are willing to share their knowledge with other dads out there.
It’s normal for men to feel a little lost when they become fathers.

Not only are you sleep-deprived, but learning how to care for a baby is challenging.
Especially if mom is breastfeeding, new dads can feel a little out of the loop when it comes to taking care of their newborn.

It seems that the baby wants to feed all the time (which it does), but even though mom is providing the milk, there are still ways for dads to stay involved.
Muhammed Nitoto is a dad from Los Angeles.

In a now-viral Facebook post, he went through his top five tips for new dads and we’re applauding his advice.
1. Help with night feedings

“When mom wakes up in the middle of the night. You get up and ask if she needs any help or water. The truth is most of the time she will say no but just the fact that you offered will go far.”
2. Do at least one feeding with pumped milk.

“Ask mom if she can pump and then pick 1 feeding that you will always do. Mom will take on almost everything and will burn herself out if you let her.”
3. Let mom and baby take their time with feedings.

“Don’t put a time limit on how long mom breastfeed the baby. It’s not just about feeding your child it’s about them bonding as well.”
4. Be patient.

“I know as a Dad the first few weeks we are equally excited and yet not as important yet. Your time will come faster than you know. “
5. Take paternity leave.

“If you have it TAKE IT. The early stages of a childs life are not just for moms to enjoy.”
Muhammed’s post has now been shared 39,000 times and has racked up 10,000 comments.
