Vacationing with your family can be pretty difficult. It’ll become clear rather quickly when people aren’t all on the same page. And when you’re with your grown children, that can be especially worse.
A man went on vacation with his three children, two adults, and one teenager. He tasked one son with supervising the rest, as his health issues keep him from leaving their hotels often. He became upset after learning his one son was using his phone often while on the trip and asked the son to put his phone away. The son refused, feeling his dad was being insensitive. Now, the man is asking Reddit’s AITA community if he was in the wrong .

The Man Went On Vacation With His Three Children.

OP and his three kids, whom he refers to as A, B, and C for the sake of the post, went to several countries in the Middle East for a vacation and pilgrimage. The trip has been hectic because A has mental health issues that make it difficult for him to go out on his own, while B and C came down with the flu. OP entrusted B with going out and looking after the others, as OP himself is suffering from health problems and needs a lot of rest.
A went out on his own one day, and B had to go out to find him. They came back several hours later. While having dinner, B pulled out his phone and was on social media. This upset OP, who wanted to have a nice family vacation. When he confronted B about it later and asked him to put his phone away, B was upset and went to his room in the suite.
Commenters Agreed That OP Was Too Harsh On His Son.

It almost seems like OP was being too controlling for the whole trip. Things absolutely weren’t going to plan, and the added pressure OP put on B was probably more than the kid wanted to deal with.
Some Believe The Son Might Not Have Even Wanted To Go On The Trip.

Commenters agreed that it seems like OP is making his kids follow weird, unnecessary rules. This might be pushing the kids away.
In Any Case, B Should Be Allowed To Be On His Phone.

As long as he isn’t spending the whole trip texting, commenters argued that there’s no harm in it.
