I hate to admit it, but I haven’t handed out candy in over 10 years… I know. I’m a horrible human, depriving the youth of their annual week-long sugar rush. I can attribute this to one of three things: partying, my dogs getting far too excited to see people come up to the door, and living in an apartment with a back entrance.
Whether you’re like me or just don’t feel like sitting on your porch for the night, there are ways to still participate in the best part of Halloween right from the comfort of your couch.
If you’d prefer spending October 31 watching scary movies or *Hocus Pocus* as opposed to sitting on your porch and waiting for a handful of kids (and let’s be real, teenagers) to receive their helping of candy, this is the DIY project for you.
I don’t know how I never thought this was a possibility before, but you can make a candy holder for people to help themselves.
It’s genius, and a Venus flytrap candy holder is the perfect spooky way to do it.
We have Chelsey from the blog The Paper Mama to thank for this incredibly clever DIY project.
Chelsey assures us that, while the DIY looks complicated to make, it’s actually not too bad and is for all artistic and crafty levels.
You’ll need a foam pumpkin, a wreath hanger, a hot knife, hot glue, a wire, at least three fake plants with thick stems, a ribbon, a wooden tag, and red (or pink), green, and white paints.
All of these can be found at your local dollar store so it’s actually a pretty affordable contraption.
