A couple in London took matters into their own hands when their car was stolen from in front of their home and police told them there was nothing to be done about it.
The car was stolen from their home

A Jaguar was stolen from Mia Forbes Pirie and Mark Simpson when it went missing from their home in west London in Brook Green on the morning of Wednesday, June 4.
They called the police but they couldn’t help
The couple then called emergency services.
Although they had an air tag fitted in their car to be able to track it and could pinpoint its location to Chiswick, the police allegedly told them they were unable to offer immediate help.
Thieves only took the car’s interior
The car, which is worth £46k ($62k), is fitted with high tech buttons that require its driver to hit the right combination for it to start.
So fortunately, the couple didn’t lose their entire car, as the thieves only managed to steal the interior and the carpets.
The couple posted about it online
Forbes Pirie took to LinkedIn to post about the situation, writing, “[Is] it right that the police seem to have no interest in investigating what is likely to have been a reasonably sophisticated operation involving a flat bed truck… if there are no consequences, what is the incentive for people not to do more of this.”
She acknowledged that police are often busy
“The police are under-resourced and it’s a shame,” Forbes Pirie went on, “But if there aren’t any consequences to people stealing cars or a lot of the other crimes where there aren’t any consequences, then I don’t really see what the deterrent is to stop people from doing it more.”
Police later shared a statement on the situation

When asked about what happened, the Met Police told LadBible, “On Tuesday, 3 June at 10:06hrs, police were alerted to the theft of a vehicle on Sterndale Road, W14.”
“Officers spoke to the victim, who shared his intention to recover the vehicle himself. An Apple Airtag was inside, allowing the victim to view its location and trace it.”
Simpson allegedly told the police that he would handle it
“The victim was reminded by officers to contact police again as needed or if police assistance was necessary at the vehicle’s location,” the police statement went on.
“At 11:23hrs the victim confirmed with police that he had found the vehicle and that it was being recovered by a truck back to the victim’s home address.”
Police ended their statement saying that they’re working with the couple to figure out the situation as the investigation is still ongoing. They also added that no arrests have been made so far.
