Cierra Ortega has officially left Love Island USA after a recent racism scandal. Fans, many of whom demanded she leave, have reacted to the news.
Her exit was announced on the Sunday, July 6 episode of the reality TV show.

Love Island USA executives found themselves having crisis talks earlier last week after an old social media post shared by Cierra Ortega resurfaced online, The Mirror reported.
An exact reason for her departure wasn’t stated
Later on July 6, it was confirmed that Ortega would be leaving, but the show’s narrator Iain Stirling only said that “Cierra had left due to a personal reason.”
She used a racial slur in one of her posts
Although it’s unclear which day Cierra had actually left the show, fans had been calling for her removal earlier when an old Instagram story of hers resurfaced.
In it, she had used a racial slur while discussing why she got Botox.
She said Botox helped her stop frowning
Ortega had said in an Instagram story that she got Botox to stop her from frowning while she was thinking.
She said, “Botox isn’t for everyone but I love it for me!!! I am incredibly expressive with my face and I catch myself frowning for no reason throughout the day when I’m focusing on something or thinking too hard lol.”
But she used a racial slur in her post
Ortega made an ignorant comment as she was describing her face, using a racial slur used to insult people with East Asian features.
She wrote, “I can also be a little ch–ky when I laugh/smile so I love getting a mini brow lift to open up my eyes and get that snatched look. This is not me encouraging but more so sharing.”
People demanded her removal
After news of the executives having a ‘crisis meeting’ and the post spreading on social media, many Love Island fans demanded Ortega be removed from the show.
And those who tuned into the episode on July 6 saw Ortega’s exit be announced.
They couldn’t believe it
Fans reacted live on X as Ortega’s exit was being announced. One person wrote, “oh wow they actually booted cierra.”
Another said, “I can’t freaking believe it. Cierra is out of the villa !!!!!” and a third person added, “Cierra getting kicked out immediately before a recoupling is hilarious as f–k, I’m sorry #LoveIslandUSA.”
