Christian has been a leading advocate in the fashion industry for size inclusiveness.
Anytime an actress is in need of a custom design, he’s always on the frontline, ready to step in!
His designs have been worn on the red carpet by women of all shapes, sizes, and ages.
Unlike many designers that only cater to traditional runway sizes.
Christian’s good friend, Selma Blair, who has recently been diagnosed with MS, name-dropped him in an interview.
She nominated him as the ideal designer to take the reigns on her adaptive clothing collection idea.
And of course, Christian was all-ears, and seemingly supportive of the plan.
How could he not be? It’s a fabulous idea that could touch many lives, including the life of one of his close friends.
Selma had recently opened up in an interview about some of the struggles she has been facing in the midst of an eight month long MS flare-up.
She revealed that finding comfortable and equally fashionable clothing has been a challenge.
She pointed out that a fashion line for people with disabilities could benefit everyone — even those who are just looking for comfortable, practical, and stylish looks.
“For those who want comfort, too. It can still be chic. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice style. Like, let’s get elastic waistbands to look a little bit better,” she said .
“I really feel like people with disabilities are invisible to a lot of people” she said, adding:
“Because they’re uncomfortable, or don’t have the energy to dress up, don’t want to be seen.”
She went on to explain how she would love to team up with Christian in the future.
With the ultimate goal being, to create an adaptive clothing line for people with and without disabilities.
Selma attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party wearing a Ralph & Russo pleated gown, while carrying a custom-made cane for support.
This was her first public appearance since revealing her diagnosis.
Selma and Christian are longtime friends — she has even walked the runway in his fashion show for New York Fashion Week in February 2018.
When the news broke about her diagnosis, Christian wrote a very heartfelt caption about her on Instagram.
When Christian was later questioned about Selma’s design ideations, he agreed that this was something he would definitely consider doing.
“Selma and I talked about it at dinner,” he told People .
“What’s happening with her is so unreal, so I was like, ‘Well maybe this is something that is needed in a way,’ so we’ll see. I don’t know yet but maybe.”
Although he’s given us a firm “maybe,” there is now some very solidified hope for the collection to be brought to life.
Selma has recently sat down for an interview with Good Morning America, where she revealed the heartbreaking details of her diagnosis.
She shared that she had been feeling certain symptoms for years, but that no doctors were taking her complaints seriously.
She also discussed the details of her flare-up — the extreme symptoms she has been experiencing.
She shared that it has been difficult for her to walk, she’s lost control over certain areas of her body, and her speech has been strongly affected.
If Christian and Selma do decide to team up on this project, it would be a total game changer.
Not to mention, it would be giving those living with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities access to fashionable clothing that works for them.
