And poor Chrissy has just been putting up with it, allowing everyone to call her something that isn’t even her name .

She took to Twitter to try and correct everyone, but there’s no use. The ship has sailed.

Imagine living your entire life having to correct people every time they say your last name.
It’s exhausting.
Other fans were very apologetic.
This person tweeted, in shock, apologizing on behalf of everyone that’s been saying her last name incorrectly all these years — begging for forgiveness.
She explained that her last name is pronounced “tie-gen” (with a hard “g”), not “tee-gen”.
She revealed that she gave up a long time ago on trying to correct people and simply accepted her new last name was “tee-gen”.
This fan pointed out that Chrissy, herself, has been heard pronouncing her last name as “tee-gen” before.
But to be fair, at some point she probably just stopped trying to fight it and accepted that “tee-gen” was her last name whether she liked it or not.
She even tweeted a video of herself saying her last name the way it’s meant to be said.
With confirmation from her mom in the background, so we know it’s real.

Having to relearn a name that you’ve been so used to calling somebody isn’t an easy thing to do.
This person tweeted that they’re going to have to rewire their brain because of this.
This person jokingly tweeted that after finding out the right way of pronouncing Chrissy’s last name, their entire life is now in question.

Chrissy Teigen isn’t the only celeb whose last name we’ve been screwing up their entire career.
Take Ariana Grande, for instance.
You probably read her last name in your head “gron-day”, right?
Well, you’re wrong.
And while the way we know to pronounce it is technically the correct Italian way of saying it, Ari revealed that there’s more to the story.
But she explained that when her family immigrated to America, they wanted to Americanize their last name.
So, she grew up referring to her last name as “gran-dee”.
She explained that her brother was the first one to suggest they start going by “gron-day” instead of “gran-dee” because he thought it sounded more fun that way — and it stuck.
“My grandpa said Gran-DEE. Gran-DEE was kind of the Americanized version of it,” she explained in an interview.
She then revealed her full given name.
“Literally, my name is like ‘Ariana Grande-Butera!'” she said with a fake Italian accent. “Literally, that’s my name. I’m like a pizza. I’m a [expletive] meatball.”
Fans are truly stunned by this news.
Let this serve as a lesson. Everything you’ve ever known to be true could be shattered at a moments notice.
