Charlotte FC has announced the tragic passing of the club’s defender, Anton Walkes who passed on at the age of 25. Walkes was involved in a boating accident that took his life hours after he was discovered.

Walkes was discovered on Wednesday after two boast crashed near Miami Marine Stadium. This happened around 3 pm, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

He Received First Aid Treatment
He received his first aid and CPR from the Maimi Fire Rescue on the same day before being transferred to a hospital. It was at the hospital that Walkes passed away, in the early hours of Thursday.
Charlotte FC Announced The Sad News
In a public statement, Charlotte FC’s sporting director, Zoran Krneta shared, “We are heartbroken from the loss of Anton Walkes, a truly incredible father, loving person, and outstanding human being.” He continued by relaying that the late footballer “embodied what it men’s to be part of Charlotte Football Club.”

Krneta in his statement made it known that the entire community was thrown into a mournful mood. He went on to describe the late star’s impact noting that it will never be forgotten.

FWC in a statement to Daily Mail detailed how Walkes was discovered after the crash. It was stated that the commission received a distress call concerning a two-vessel accident near the Miami Stadium basin. Walkes was one of the operators on the vessel and he was found unconscious. He was taken to the hospital but later did not survive the injuries he sustained.

The Major League Soccer reacted to the heartrending news of the young player’s death penning how he was a talented and dedicated athlete who was loved by all. MLS also noted that they had collaborated with Charlotte FC to provide the family members and the players with all they needed as they mourned Walkes’ untimely death.

The Royal Family, which is a supporters’ group of Charlotte FC, announced a vigil to be held on Thursday outside the East Gate of Bank of America Stadium in the late athlete’s honor. The announcers noted that those who wished to participate could go along with jerseys signs to place against the gate and nabbers.
