As the Black Lives Matter movement gains increasing momentum, it is becoming more and more evident that the world is changing for the better, and Charlize Theron couldn’t be more on-board.
While speaking on Variety’s “The Big Ticket” podcast, she explained that she wants her two black daughters to thrive in this new, inclusive world.
She gave a ton of thoughtful insights!
In case you didn’t already know, Charlize Theron is a mother of two adopted African-American daughters.

She adopted Jackson in March 2012, and August in July 2015. In a later interview with the Daily Mail , Charlize revealed that initially, she thought Jackson was a boy — as most of us also did.
“Yes, I thought she was a boy too. Until she looked at me when she was 3 years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!'” she said.

She explained that she has no trouble accepting Jackson’s identity, and only wants to see her children do well in life .

“So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters, Jackson and August, who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive.”

Which, obviously, if you are a parent, you can totally relate to that.
“They were born who they are,” she went on.
“And exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide,” she added.
She explained that instead of fussing over something trivial, she simply wants to support her children and give them the best opportunities to succeed.
“She said that she would rather “celebrate them” and “love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be.”

And as the world changes to become more inclusive to black people, POC, women, and the LGBTQ community, Charlize’s children have never been a better position to thrive.
In a recent conversation on *Variety’s* podcast, “The Big Ticket”, she opened up even more about it.
And revealed that she fully supports “shaming” Hollywood studios and their executives for their history of racism.
Go off!
“I’m a mom to two small Black girls,” she said.
She explained that she wants her daughters to be able to become whoever they want to be, without any adversity over their skin color.
Makes complete sense.
“I want them to grow up in a world where they see themselves, where there is an awareness that they can be whomever they want to be because they see it,” she continued.

She clarified that she means in both the film industry and in life.
“And that’s not just in cinema, that’s in life, too,” she said.
She added that she wants them to be able to reach their full potential and be given the same opportunities as anybody else.
“I want to surround them in a world where they feel they belong”.

“And they can shine and they can live to their full potential,” she went on .
She then began to criticize the film industry for their blatant lack of diversity.
She said that she supports the “shaming” of Hollywood studios and executives for the way the industry has treated black people thus far.

She explained that we’re now in an era where people need to put their foot down and demand change.
“I think, call them out and I think we’re at a place now where we feel brave enough to do that,” she said.
She said that while shaming is not necessarily ideal, it may come with the territory.
“If we have to involve some shaming, then that’s what we have to do,” she concluded.

By setting a new precedent and demanding changes be made in Hollywood, the world will be a marginally better place!
We love to see it!
