Charlize Theron, 49, once revealed that she was sexually harassed by a major movie director at her first ever audition when she was a teenager.
She hasn’t publicly named the director since then, and she explained in a recent interview why that is.

Back in 2019, The Mad Max actress revealed on The Howard Stern Show that she was sexually harassed by a major movie director during her first-ever audition.
At the time, she was still a teenager, and had been given an audition at the director’s house at 9pm.
He opened the door in his pajamas
Theron shared that the director opened the door in his pajamas, and when she walked in, he sat too close to her and put his hand on her knee.
“The little voice inside me definitely said, ‘This isn’t right,’” she shared. “But then the other voice in me says, ‘Well, I don’t know. Maybe it is right.’”
She explained why she never named him
In a more recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Theron explained why she never name-dropped the director since telling the story six years ago and why she doesn’t plan on doing it any time soon.
“This guy, he got a little nervous for a while there,” she said.
Theron didn’t want it to be about him
She revealed that the unnamed director had eventually found out she shared the allegation publicly, and was seemingly nervous about it.
“I’ve never said his name because honestly, I don’t want the story to be about him. It’s not because I’m protecting him or anything, but he got nervous for a little bit,” Theron said.
She said he wrote a letter explaining his behavior
“He heard me tell the story, and he knew it was about him, and he wrote me a pretend letter trying to explain his behavior and how I must have misunderstood it, which is classic, isn’t it?” Theron added.
Theron said he knew it was about him
The actress said she felt that the director “started panicking” after she spoke publicly about it.
Theron said, “He was waiting for me, and I just realized, like, I won’t even f—ing say your name because you know you’re the scumbag. You know it’s you, and if anybody ever asked me about him, I would be completely honest. And he knows that.”
She felt he was waiting for her to expose him
The actress added, “And I kind of like that he’s got to be on a hot seat. He doesn’t know when it’s going to come. I kind of like that a little more.”
