Hollywood has a way of distorting the truth. It’s deceptive by nature, and often paints a rose-colored reality surrounding our favorite stars and A-list celebrities.
Ironically enough, one of the things that fans most often guess wrong is their favorite star ‘s height. So in order to help clear the air, here are 15 celebrities who are taller (or shorter ) than we thought).
Kylie Minogue is shockingly only 5’0″.

I just can’t get Kylie Minogue out of my head! It’s been more than 20 years since Kylie took the world by storm and she looks as fierce as ever! She may only be 5’0″ but she commands a stage as if she were 7-feet-tall.
David Spade is just 5’5″.

I was born and raised on David Spade and Chris Farley. For my money, Black Sheep and Tommy Boy are two of the greatest comedy films of all time. You can really see how small in stature David is compared to his young daughter.
John Cleese is a monster at 6’5″.
It pains me to think that some readers will be far too young to remember the greatness that was John Cleese and the Monty Python comedy troupe. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed harder watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail .
Gwendoline Christie from ‘Game Of Thrones’ stands 6’3″.

No, it isn’t TV magic that makes Gwendoline stand toe-to-toe with The Hound on Game of Thrones — she really is that tall in real life!
I for one can’t wait to see Gwendoline as Lucifer in the upcoming adaptation of The Sandman .
James McAvoy barely scratches 5’7″.
When you see James McAvoy in Split , he quite literally looks as big as a house! I was shocked to learn that he’s just barely 5’7″ in real life.
Maybe James should have been the one to play Wolverine in the MCU?
Karen Gillan is 5’11”.

I love Karen Gillan but I’m not especially fond of the Gen-Z look she’s rocking in this photo. I hate to say it, but bellbottom pants are as ugly today as they were back in the 70s.
Aziz Ansari is only 5’6″.
Being that I’m a diehard fan of the show Parks and Recreation , I always knew that Aziz wasn’t the tallest guy on the block. Still, at only 5’6″, he’s much shorter than I imagined him to be for some reason.
Stephen Merchant is 6’7″.

Stephen Merchant may not be a household name, but he’s one of the most respected comedic writers in the business. Over the course of his career, Stephen has written for countless movies and TV shows, including The Office , and The Outlaws .
Mandy Moore is 5’10”.

Are you serious? Mandy Moore is taller than I am?! I don’t get it, she always looked so petite standing next to Shane West in the iconic cult classic A Walk to Remember ! God, I loved that movie.
The “Piano Man” Billy Joel is 5’5″.
Why is it that the greatest rock stars of the age always seem to be short guys? Look at Mick Jagger, Prince, and of course — Billy Joel. Although I suppose when you can play and sing like he can, nothing else really matters.
Julia Roberts is taller than she looks, standing at 5’10”.

Julia may only be 5’10” but she casts a shadow that’s wider than the grand canyon. No matter how much time passes or how many years go by, she will always remain the unquestionable Queen of Hollywood.
Al Pacino is right around 5’6″.
Say hello to my short little friend! I’m just kidding, of course — I love Al Pacino! I’ve probably seen Scarface more than any other movie in existence. He was also incredible in the Amazon Prime series, Hunters .
Adam Sandler is only 5’9″.

Maybe it’s just me, but Adam Sandler looks a lot taller than 5’9″ when he’s beating the absolute crap out of Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore . Standing in a soiled sweater next to a bulldog, however — not so much.
Bo Burnham is a towering 6’5″.

I was always very blase when it came to my opinion on Bo Burnham. I wouldn’t say I outright disliked him, but I certainly wasn’t what you’d call a fan, either. Then, I saw Inside and my entire perspective changed.
This young man is an artist.
Reese Witherspoon is just barely 5’1″.

I love Reese so freaking much. I saw Cruel Intentions when I was far too young and ever since then — I’ve been hooked.
Sidenote, if you want to try the best biscuits you’ll ever eat, check out Reese’s recipe in her book “Whiskey in a Teacup.”
