The worst of the coronavirus that hit in 2020 is now behind us, but with the announcement of a possible new disease outbreak, social media is in a frenzy. Reddit users remember how China handled the first pandemic with a lack of humanity and didn’t think the world could survive another compulsory lockdown.
Worldwide, people had to adjust to the new norm, which was forced quarantine for people who traveled or suspected they’ve contracted the disease.
When news of the virus broke, the people of Wuhan, China, shared videos of the Center for Disease Control officials in the Asian city welding residents of an apartment shut to enforce the quarantine.
CDC Welds People Shut In Their Homes

The Chinese Government Doomed People To Unfavorable Quarantine Conditions
The situation happened after the first confirmed death from Coronavirus in the Philippines. The Chinese government’s reaction violated human rights as they sealed apartments shut after barricading the residents indoors to force them into quarantine.
Social media posts from residents in Wuhan revealed that the situation was worse than we saw online. They added that the Chinese police sealed the doors and stood to watch, preventing contact with the outside world.
One such video resurfaced three days ago on the subreddit Crazy F*cking Videos causing renewed outrage. Several Redditors wanted to know how the “quarantined” people survived without or with food.
The Government Had Misplaced Priorities

How Not To Deal With A Pandemic
Some Reddit users attempted to liven the mood by making jokes about the situation, saying the people could feed on themselves like a fictional zombie apocalypse. Others poked the Chinese government for misplaced priorities saying they couldn’t fix the railings on the stairway leading to the apartment.
However, for the more serious Redditors who wanted to know how the residents got food, someone shared their experience living in Shanghai during the first lockdown. Due to mass hysteria and misinformation, there was a shortage of deliveries, so they couldn’t get food and survived on government-provided rations.
They revealed that people starved to death in their homes while some died from suicide. One of the apartments welded shut caught fire leading to ten deaths in the Xinjiang province. The Reddit users believed the government didn’t care about those notable deaths as long as they weren’t due to Covid-19.
Amnesty International suggested ways “not to handle a pandemic,” and welding people in their homes was number one. Other ways included rendering people homeless, punishing whistleblowers, encouraging mass gatherings, promoting mass hysteria with misinformation, pretending it’s not real, killing people, and restricting access to food, water, and aid.
