Cruises are made for fun, but the passengers onboard this 7-day Western Caribbean cruise, the Carnival Jubilee, had another say as their cruise took a south turn.
A huge fight broke out, resulting in the banning of 24 passengers from ever boarding with Carnival Cruise Line, and are now on the Carnival Cruise Line’s “Do Not Sail” list.
What went down
According to USA Today, the incident took place on April 26, with video footage showing passengers shoving past barriers inside a terminal in Galveston, Texas.
Consequently, at least one person was pushed down to the ground and punched. The brawl continued even after security intervened.
A spokesperson for Carnival issued a statement
In a statement shared with People, the spokesperson said:
“The incident occurred in the debarkation area under the authority of U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. The matter was turned over to law enforcement. We will not tolerate such behavior, and 24 people have been placed on our Do Not Sail list.”
What the video footage revealed
The footage, posted by Facebook user Trelle Ray, showed the passengers crowded around in a baggage claim area. Several passengers seemed to begin chasing after a passenger to another area.
In the process, the passengers broke through barriers and knocked down signs until they were able to tackle that passenger and the fight began.
Security intervened but to no avail
Another person involved in the crowd rushed to get away. Meanwhile, security intervened to break up the fight and yet, their attempts were futile.
Travelers could be seen standing and watching the scene in shock, while others grabbed their phones to film the unfolding scene.
The cruise’s journey
According to details shared by CruiseMapper, the ship left Galveston on Saturday, April 19. It then made stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, as well as Roatan Island in Honduras.
The Jubilee eventually returned to Galveston at 8 a.m. local time on Saturday, April 26.

In June 2022, a dramatic fight took place on the dance floor at a nightclub on the Carnival Magic. The cruise was sailing near the Verrazano Bridge in New York where 40 to 60 people were reportedly involved in the incident.
The NYPD told People then that the Coast Guard escorted the cruise ship to Pier 88 and the passengers were disembarked “without further incident.”
