You don't have to ask a parent if parenting is exhausting. You can see it on their face from the frown lines around their mouth and the wrinkles on their forehead. It's a hard, full-time job and if anyone says otherwise, they're wrong.

Some parents even go so far as to hate their children. Yep, that bad. Here, these parents explain why.

The bad personality

Sometimes, even a mother's love can't make a child likable. That's the case with this Redditor's son who would often get into trouble at school. One time, he was trying to get the attention of a girl in class and he said, "Excuse me, BLACK GIRL, may I have your attention?"

"I still have young children, but my 3-year-old son still hits, bites, and kicks so much that I genuinely worry and am so scared to see how this behavior grows as he gets older. I know it’s 'normal' to an extent, but he is old enough to know it’s wrong, and he does it anyway because he thinks it’s funny." - ericagessner1

The stepson

This next parent is bound to draw controversy for the reason they hate their stepchild. It's because he's autistic. He explained that he's in his late teens, but has the developmental skills of an eight-year-old.

This stress caused him and his ex to separate. "A 'special needs' child is not a 'gift' or a 'miracle'. They are a terror," they wrote. Yikes.

The mean child

"My oldest child is MEAN and seems to take the enjoyment out of making other people feel bad. They also constantly lie. I've tried doctors, therapists, but nothing works for them. I am exhausted and cannot wait until they move out." - nicklesandpickles4200

The over-sharer

Thanks to cell phones and social media, teenagers are able to share everything online. This gets to be too much for one woman.

She hates her daughter for sharing every aspect of their life with her friends in a group chat. "They don't need to see a picture of me after I've fallen asleep on the couch," they wrote.

The needy child

"My son is grown, but he is and always has been very needy. He is an only child, and I thought it would be better as he grew older, but it’s worse. He texts me or calls me over eight times a day and panics if I don’t respond in a nanosecond. I love him so much, but it’s overwhelming." - lisas4bb382393

The stinky kid

Like dogs, kids aren't immune to rolling around in the mud. They can also just naturally smell really bad. This woman hates her 10-year-old son for preferring to be smelly. According to her, he finds it funny to smell like B.O. or rotten feet. Ew.

The spoiled child

"After his mom died, I stopped disciplining him. I thought if I gave him everything I never had; coolest clothes, shoes, toys, dirt bikes, game consoles, etc, would make me a good parent. I was wrong. He's about to turn 18 and I can't even stand to be in the same room as him. He's manipulative, mean, arrogant, and condescending. And it's all my fault." - u/dakipsta

The stepmom

The relationship between a stepparent and a stepchild is often a complicated one (just watch the movie Stepmom). One woman wrote that her stepdaughter still treats her horribly and sees her as an intruder in her own home.

"Probably because they're too much like me. I like to think that as a parent part of my job is to eliminate my foibles by helping my children be better than me. My failure as a parent instead has been to create copies; what I dislike about them is also what I hate about myself." - u/Canadabigjack

The lazy son

A parent's nightmare is raising a child who has no aspirations in life. That nightmare has become reality for this parent who wrote that their son has ZERO drive or ambition. "He never plans or thinks about the future, and I'm the total opposite. My fear is that he's going to be 40 years old living in the basement."

"She got pregnant right after graduating high school and moving out. Upon delivery, she wanted nothing to do with the baby. My wife and I were the ones who took it home from the hospital and have been raising it. Our daughter treats her own child like a plaything and only sees it rarely to show off for people. Otherwise, she's not around." - u/Tim_Out_Of_Mind

The rude child

Rude kids have caused this mom to want someone to take her kids off her hands for a month. They will tell her things like she looks fat or that her breath smells. Her 13-year-old will also throw a tantrum if she asks him to do anything.

The mother

"I hate my daughter bc she has all the bad characteristics of her mother and none of the good ones. She's mean, aggressive, demanding, she hits her classmates, gets violent when she doesn't get what she wants, yells loudly to overpower anyone around her when she can't use physical violence." - u/FBreath

The pathological liar

Meredith Blake
NBC | Disney

"She is a pathological liar. It started when she was young, just little lies about little things. It was cute, always innocent, but we did correct her. As she got older, her lies got bigger. Again, we let her know that we knew she was lying and tried to correct the behavior, but apparently, she continued to lie about my husband and I, which has TWICE resulted in the police wrongly being contacted." - u/Anonymous
