In Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope which came out all the way back in 1977, Princess Leia risks it all for Obi-Wan Kenobi, a Jedi she has complete hope and faith in. But no one ever knew why she would do such a thing for a man she seemingly knew little about (besides his service to her father).

But fans were always confused by her unflinching trust in a man she didn't know.

Now, that has all changed, and it all makes sense.

Our young Princess Leia Organa, played by Vivien Lyra Blair, is kidnapped by bounty hunters, and it is up to Obi-Wan to save her. While this is ultimately a trap, it also closes up the hole many fans were left wondering for years: why did Leia trust Obi-Wan so easily? Well, now we know.

Ben saves Leia using the Force in Episode 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

To be fair, in A New Hope Leia did say “years ago you served my father in the Clone Wars.” But now we know that there was more going on there, and they have an actual relationship.

Remember, when Luke breaks Leia out of the cell, she knows the name Ben Kenobi.

That's the name he uses when he wants to communicate with Jedi. This new layer to their relationship adds so much more to the stories of both characters.

After all, just like the show pointed out, Leia is "just as important" as Luke.
