Nicolas Cage is an enigma. On the one hand, he's an Oscar-winning actor who's appeared in some of the most beloved and cherished films of the past 35 years. On the other, however, he's the epitome of a Hollywood pariah.

Recently, while doing press for his latest film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nic was asked to name the most memorable fan interaction of his career. It turns out that it happened just this year after bonding with a mother over her grief and their shared love of City of Angels.

Nicolas Cage is one of the most polarizing actors currently working in Hollywood today.

The Oscar-winning actor has been fueling the fires of debate for decades. But whether you hate to love him or love to hate him, there's no denying that Nic Cage has left an indelible mark in Tinsel Town.

When it comes to Nic Cage, you never know quite what you're going to get.

Films such as Raising Arizona, Leaving Las Vegas, and Adaptation all speak to the incredible acting prowess Nic possesses. However, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Ghostrider, and The Wicker Man most assuredly do not.

Then there are those movies that tend to fall somewhere in the middle.

Nic has often been hailed as the king of making good bad movies. These tend to include films like Face/Off, and The Rock, as well as the hotly debated romance movie, City of Angels.

In 'City Of Angels', Nic stars as Seth.

He is an angel of death who's tasked with helping humans transition to the other side.

While on assignment, he meets a surgeon named Maggie (Meg Ryan) and becomes madly in love. In the end, Seth chooses to "fall" from heaven and become human in order to be with her.

In a recent interview for 'People' magazine, Nic explained why 'City Of Angels' still holds a special place in his heart.

Nic was asked to name his most memorable interaction with a fan over the years, to which he replied "I had a pretty poignant one last night."

Nic went on to recall meeting a woman downstairs at his hotel bar.

The woman revealed to Nic that her daughter had tragically passed away in a car accident, roughly one year before City of Angels was released in theaters.

The woman went on to say how every time she watches 'City Of Angels', she feels as if she's with her daughter once again.

"She said, 'When the song comes on, the Alanis Morissette song, I'm re-bonded with my daughter,'" Nic added.

"She was genuine, she was sincere."

"And I thought to myself, 'Wow, that's probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard,' " Nic said.

The star of the recently released The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent concluded by stating how it warmed his heart to know that his "little movie" had helped ease the woman's pain on such a profound level.

Being that 'The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent' is semi-autobiographical, Nic was also asked in which ways he differs from the fictionalized version of himself.

"First and foremost... there's no version of Nic Cage in reality that doesn't want to spend time with his children," he said flatly.

Nic expounded on that thought, emphasizing how at no point in his life did he ever put his career before his family.

"I turned down Lord of the Rings and I turned down Matrix because I didn't want to go to New Zealand for three years or Australia for three years because I needed to be home with my son Weston, that's a fact," Nic reiterated.

Due to these reasons and more, Nic personally feels that there is a marked divergence between himself and the characterized version we see on the screen.
