Jennifer Grey has opened up on her feelings towards the ongoing defamation trial with Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp and his ex-wife, Aquaman star, Amber Heard.

The Dirty Dancing star has been in the news quite a bit herself lately, as her recently published memoir Out of the Corner brings to light her relationship with Depp, and her strained working relationship with Patrick Swayze.

They were together before Johnny Depp found his way to Winona Ryder, and after Grey ended it with Matthew Broderick. She recounts that finding out about Depp and Ryder was a 'nightmare'.

Their romance began so strongly.

About the romance, her memoir reads, “We ate, talked, drank Jack Daniel’s, laughed our asses off, took cigarette breaks midcourse. [...] He was so ridiculously beautiful. And surprisingly open, funny, quirky, and sweet."

Then, it fell apart pretty quickly.

They had a quick engagement that was called off only nine months later when Grey learned of Depp cheating on her with Ryder.

However, she looks back on this fondly now. In fact, she says Depp actually kind of saved her life.

She was going through some tough times while they were dating.

Or, as she put it in her memoir, "very, very heavy stuff that went down that changed my life forever."

In an interview, she said, "And energetically, what it was like being with him, it was like, 'Oh, I’m being totally, totally compensated for the [expletive] I just went through."

"I was in desperate need of rebounding into something that looked and felt like 1989 Johnny Depp," she said.

"Trust me, it was a very soft landing. It was necessary. I was bleeding out inside and this guy saved me and just made me ... not feel what I was feeling."

As for Depp's trial with Heard, it breaks her heart.

"All I can say about that trial is that it breaks my heart for everybody involved." she said. "I just think it's sad and I wish it was resolved and I just wish everybody well,"
