Friends Put On Matching Bikinis With Different Sizes To Hit Back At Body Shaming

Body shaming happens to all kinds of people and it has to stop.

People On Social Media Are Cruel

The relative anonymity and lack of face to face interactions on social media have given rise to some very disturbing behaviors online. For some reason, people feel entitled to share their unsolicited opinions about women's bodies all the time, often in very cruel ways.

Two Friends Make A Statement

Dani Austin and Sarah Tripp are both social media influencers, and despite their different body types, they both are often faced with body-shamers online. People are constantly telling Dani that she looks anorexic, while Sarah is faced with a neverending stream of people calling her fat.

Dani's Perspective

In order to make a statement about the treatment that they both receive, Dani and Sarah decided to pose in matching bikinis. Dani explained:

Alright sassy mamas, let’s get real about body shaming!

Sarah's Perspective

Sarah offered her perspective as well, pointing out that people of all body types are made to feel bad about themselves online.

BODY SHAMING IS NOT OKAY!!

Role Models

Dani points out that Sarah is a great role model no matter what size she is.

I honestly can’t think of anyone who’s a better role model than Sarah. Her only goal is to help us ladies feel confident, SASSY, and love our bodies no matter the size!

Self-Worth At Any Size

A woman's value is not based on the size of her clothes, which Sarah is quick to point out. Your purpose is not simply to exist for the pleasure of others.

i’ve been shamed this same way for years, but on the other end of the scale. strangers online are constantly telling me i’m “overweight”, or “unhealthy”, or “a terrible role model” because of my size. but i know better. because i know this size 12 body of mine is curvy fit!

Silence The Haters

Dani and Sarah hope to encourage all women to feel better about themselves and to silence the haters online. Dani explains:

I’m sure we’ve all been hurt by something that was said about us or maybe we have a little voice inside our heads telling us we aren’t pretty, smart, or successful enough. Sarah and I believe that we are ALL so much more than what you see on the outside and the truth is, we don’t need the approval of others to find our self worth. The ultimate form of girl power is self-confidence. ✨And even though that’s always a work in progress for most, it’s one of my top goals. Let’s all remember to love ourselves because empowered women empower women. Body shaming is never okay - let’s remember that love and kindness are never wasted!

Ultimately, the goal is for people to just let women exist in whatever state they want. Thanks to influencers like Dani and Sarah, we're hopefully taking a few steps towards that kind of experience for women.
