15 Mistakes From 'The Flintstones' Fans Likely Didn't Catch

When I was a kid growing up, watching re-runs of The Flintstones was a staple of my morning routine. This groundbreaking series helped pave the way for shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Recently, in a fit of nostalgia, I once again started rewatching some of my old favorites and came across some discrepancies. Have a look below and check out these 15 mistakes from The Flintstones fans likely didn't catch.

The lawyer's fasteners keep on disappearing.

Watch closely as Perry Mason cross-examines his witnesses. In the picture above, the black fasteners of his cloak can be seen. But later on, when Barney takes the stand, it's as if they've been erased.

Didn't Fred's TV used to have bunny-ears?

This is one of the most common mistakes that gets made time and time again throughout The Flintstones series. At various moments, and in many different episodes, Fred's TV is depicted as both having and not having antennae.

What happened to Wilma's pillow?

ABC

If you look at the above image, you'll notice that Wilma has a large white pillow propped up against the headboard of her bed. But somehow, as soon as the camera cuts away, the pillow is nowhere to be found.

Rodney the knife-thrower has some rather peculiar attire.

In season 3's "Dial 'S' For Suspicion," the audience is introduced to Rodney the knife-thrower. At various times throughout, his shoulder strap jumps back and forth over his left and right shoulder.

Pebbles has an awful lot of outfit changes in a short amount of time.

When Barney and Fred are backstage, trying to figure out Pebbles' talent, she begins the scene with her bathing suit on. A few moments later, she begins to crawl away and is somehow now back in her normal street clothes.

Dino's color changes as the series goes on.

In the very early beginnings of The Flintstones, Dino could not only talk but he was also a dark shade of purple. As the series goes on, Dino loses his ability to speak and he also turns pink.

Where did the blue blanket go?

in "The Blessed Event," Fred and Barney realize they've left for the hospital without Wilma. Once they're out of the house, Dino jumps on the bed and onto the blue blanket. But in the shot of Wilma walking around the house, Dino is sleeping on a white sheet.

Weren't there two ropes to begin with?

In season 4's "Dino Disappears," when we first see the monkey operating the traffic light, there are two ropes shown. As the camera zooms out, somehow the second rope has now been replaced with a singular one.

What happened to the blue and pink cloths?

If you look at the image above, you can see a blue and pink cloth hanging on the line as Wilma and Betty go about their chores. Once we see Pebbles begin playing with Dino, the blue and Pink cloth are nowhere to be found.

What happened to the door?

In this episode, Wilma opens the door and discovers Fred standing there, covered head to toe in white flour. In the next frame, however, Fred remains in place yet the door has somehow vanished from sight.

Where did the buttons on the TV go?

As Fred and Barney carry the new TV across the yard, you can see three distinct buttons right underneath the screen. However, as soon as the camera cuts away and comes back, the buttons seem to have vanished.

Bamm-Bamm's shoulder strap keeps changing positions.

This happens multiple times throughout the series and sometimes even within the same episode. If you pay close attention to the black strap holding up little Bamm-Bamm's loincloth, you'll notice that it irregularly switches from his left to right shoulder.

I think the animators must've made a mistake.

Before Fred falls off the bridge, Bamm-Bamm is depicted with his normal white/blonde hair. However, when the camera zooms out and shows Fred sitting in the riverbed, Bamm-Bamm's hair is mistakenly colored red, just like Pebbles'.

The case of the missing ballet bar.

As Fred tried to stretch his leg on a ballet bar, he becomes stuck — unable to move. As the teacher approaches to help push his leg down, the bar that Fred was initially holding onto for support vanishes and then reappears.

Just how many people can fit into Fred's car?

ABC

The amount of seats in Fred's car seems to change depending on the episode. Most of the time when he and Barney are driving home from the quarry, it appears to be a two-seater. But then in the image above, it's more than able to accommodate two full families.
