17 People With Doorbell Cameras Share Bad Things They’ve Seen Through Them

Doorbell cameras have become increasingly popular in recent years.

They allow you to interact with people on your doorstep, all without actually opening your door. Unfortunately, this also means that it captures some weird footage from time to time...

Here, 17 people with doorbell cameras share bad things they've seen through them. Some of these stories are seriously bone-chilling.

1. The police officers

This Redditor experienced something extremely sinister.

One night, they had two "cops" come to their door and discuss whether they were home or not and who would rape them first. So messed up.

They were home at the time and called the police.

The operator told them that they didn't have cops in their area and to stay away from the door until the real cops got there.

When they pulled up, the fake cops ran off.

2. The blood-curdling scream

"Had mine detect the sound of someone screaming bloody murder in the middle of the night. Was only like 2 seconds then stopped and didn't happen again." - u/xXminilex. This makes you wonder what happened to the woman.

3. The shooting

Netflix

When a shoot-out happened across the street from this Redditor's house, it picked up the sounds of the gunshots.

They could hear the crack of the bullets on the opposite side of the house but didn't capture the visuals on camera.

4. The stake-out

"He came up to my door, knocked it, tried to ring the doorbell (the doorbell was broken), and finally rang the Ring doorbell. He looked shocked to see it working, and he quickly took off in his car. My place was kind of burglarized a year before; I caught the burglar outside and screamed at him." - u/McHaaps

5. The toddler

It was around five a.m. in the middle of winter when this Redditor's husband answered their doorbell camera on the phone.

It was a toddler wearing nothing but a PJ top and underwear. The toddler said, "can (their son's name) come out to play?"

The husband, who was still half-asleep said, "not right now, maybe later."

Three minutes later, the reality of the situation dawned on him. He went outside and tracked the toddler walking barefoot in the freezing weather.

Since the toddler had been to their house for a playdate with their son before, he came back. It's a miracle the Redditor found him, as this story could've had a tragic ending.

6. The crouching man

"Dude crouching behind my car while me and my mom got out, crept up right behind it and we didn't even notice, his face was covered, didn't see until a day or two later watching random clips." - u/WungusDigester

7. The child

When this Redditor and his wife checked their doorbell camera, they saw what appeared to be a small child on their porch in a winter coat, standing motionless.

They stood like this for minutes and then just left.

8. The baseball bat

"My mom saw a guy wandering around her yard with a baseball bat in hand late at night. Her, my brother, and our Great Dane went out to ask him what the [expletive] he thought he was doing. Guy immediately ran off." - u/KayTheMadScientist

9. The fake police badge

This Redditor captured someone holding a clearly fake police badge up to their doorbell camera.

Sadly, this is a common trick used by crooks. They use police gear to get people to open their doors and then invade their homes.

10. The homeless man

"Around 6:00 am, an obviously homeless man rang our doorbell a few times. He began to reach his hands into his pants and talk to his penis. After a few seconds he then tried to climb through a cracked window above the door. It was too tall and he gave up immediately." -u/neviuz

11. The missing cat

When a neighbor's cat went missing, they checked their Ring camera to see a guy riding his bike. One hand was used to hold the bike and the other was used to hold the missing cat over his shoulder.

Sadly, he was stealing cats in the neighborhood as bait for fighting dogs.

12. The intruder

"I have a camera in the hallway inside the house facing the door. Someone with a motorcycle helmet opened the front door, pet my dog, and then left. Checking the front yard camera, there was no motorcycle or car in the driveway. We changed the locks and got a security system that night." - u/dinoaids

13. The sleepwatcher

This one is terrifying! This Redditor caught a man watching them through their window. Their phone alerted them that there was movement outside their window, so they opened the live stream and watched the man watch them. Here's the clip.

14. The woman on the stairs

"A woman coming up the stairs. Stops just at the top and stares at my front door. She stares blankly for a second then she whispers something as if someone was waiting for her at the bottom, no one was there. Then she turns around, goes down the stairs and disappears around the corner." - u/Little_Buffalo

15. The package thief

Unsplash | Bastian Pudill

This Redditor's neighborhood had several packages go missing during Christmas. One day, they received an email stating a package was delivered only to find it missing when they got home.

After reviewing their camera footage, they discovered that it was actually the postal employee herself stealing packages!

16. Michael Myers

"Guy rang our doorbell at 3am. He was dressed up as Michael Myers and holding a knife. My wife and I weren't home (out of town). No idea to this day if it was someone we knew playing a sick prank or not." - u/idunnosothis

17. The stabbing

This Redditor was leaving their house when they saw blood on the floor. When they checked the doorbell camera, they saw a guy around 17 covered in blood with stab wounds. He sat outside the Redditor's home until he was picked up by paramedics.
