20 Weird Pics That We Can't Really Explain, But Also Can't Stop Looking At

Most things you see can be explained by someone who's in the know, but it isn't strictly necessary to understand everything. Sometimes, you just need to let it wash over you.

You can find explanations for these pics if you want, but we prefer the mystery.

"All 4 of my cats paws have unique black/pink combinations."

Reddit | IAmAHiggsBoson

I know that this is relatively easily explained by genetics, but since I have neither the intelligence nor the will to commit to this field of study, I'll just go ahead and say that this is magic.

"This dead straight line of bubbles in my beer."

Reddit | Nikay_P

If you've ever wondered if beer is a living product of fermentation, just look at the bubbles the next time you get a glass. They're often doing some downright bizarre, unpredictable things.

"My plant can't grow close to the wifi hub."

Reddit | designflaw2b

Wifi is good to have. I pretty much want it injected into my veins. But this photo gives me pause when I consider the mesh of wifi routers I've placed around my house.

"Was cutting down a tree at a golf course and found a golf ball wedged in it."

Reddit | el_tobleronie

I really can't comprehend how a golf ball could be struck so hard that it embeds itself in a tree, and isn't pushed out when the tree inevitably grows bigger.

"The portrait mode on my iPhone got partially rid of the glass in this picture."

Reddit | BoboDupla

It's always fun to see how AI-assisted camera features cope with things they weren't intended to fix. In this case, the camera will remove the glass from your beer, because the camera thinks the beer is somebody's face.

"There is a live crayfish defending the rice aisle in my local Asian market."

If I walked into the store and saw this, I'd probably just cede the aisle to the crayfish. Sure, I'm a lot bigger, but that crayfish looks determined.

"Knife made of cable from the Golden Gate Bridge."

Reddit | PL0X0R

I understand the cable handle, but don't understand how the cable, which is composed of many intricate threads of metal, can be sharpened into one cohesive blade. In any event, it's a cool knife.

"My friend has amassed a collection of over 100 copies of Shrek on VHS."

Reddit | nesfor

Shrek is more of a meme than a movie, so I'd like to know this person's thought process. Is it solely for the lulz? Are they trying to corner the market? I need answers.

"The way the ice froze on my car this morning."

Reddit | darkaotik

People are always posting these beautiful, ornate patterns randomly formed by ice. Meanwhile, the ice on my car is always ugly and tough to remove. Maybe I'll see this for myself someday.

"It's so cold here in Iowa that there is now frost on the inside of my door hinges."

Reddit | TheMadCatterFTW

When it's cold, we shut the doors and windows to keep the cold out. Usually, it works pretty well — that is, of course, until the cold finds its way in.

"It's so cold in Iowa that we froze antifreeze."

Reddit | Stonedspidey

Clearly, judging by this photo and the last one, things got pretty cold in Iowa a while back. I thought antifreeze literally couldn't freeze, but here we are. It really should be called "resistfreeze."

"This black car looks like a mirror after being washed."

Reddit | Tittzo

It's kind of mindblowing to see what a carefully positioned photograph of a reflective surface can look like. You can clearly see the car in this pic, but it might take you a minute.

"This morning reflection from my front door."

Reddit | embracingfit

I guess it must look like there's some kind of glowing, heavenly portal on this wall every time it's sunny in the morning. I guess there are worse wake-up calls out there.

"Large ice crystals in Switzerland."

Reddit | simplywing

I live in a snowy climate, and I've never seen anything like this. It looks like a snowflake under a microscope, only there's no need to use a microscope to see its various angles.

"A storm literally picked up and moved this road."

Reddit | Craigrets

That must have either been some storm, or the crew that installed this road didn't do things properly. I mean, I thought asphalt just kind of adhered to the ground and didn't move.

"The way my plate broke in almost even pieces."

Reddit | mmay_a

It's impressive that a plate can randomly break in such a well-organized way. There's not a whole lot you can do with this knowledge, but hey, at least it's kind of cool.

"Uber driver's hair formed a perfect 25."

Reddit | Steln

This almost looks planned, but I can't imagine why someone would plan for two random curls from their hair to form a random number. Perhaps it's a sign. Maybe the photographer should buy a lottery ticket that includes the number 25.

"The way my dog's spots faded over 10 years."

Reddit | short-_-cakes

We're all familiar with the typical signs of aging: going grey, getting wrinkly, and generally slowing down. I didn't realize that "dogs slowly losing those adorable spots around their eyes" was another sign.

"This clean color spectrum on my floor right now."

Reddit | memecomperator

The light spectrum is fairly easy to understand. What's tougher to understand, though, is why it sometimes gets projected in such a clean way. All you can really do is appreciate the light show.

"This deformed gummy bear looks like Mew from Pokemon."

Reddit | ZachVII7

My Pokemon knowledge peaked in 1999 and has been on the decline ever since, but I do believe Mew is exceedingly rare. Does this mean that deformed gummy bears that look like Mew are also rare?
