Billy Ray Cyrus’ Son, Trace, took to Instagram where he wrote an emotional post, pleading with his father to “open up” as he barely recognizes him anymore.
This post came after Billy Ray Cyrus performed at Donald Trump’s second inauguration at the Liberty Ball on Monday. People dubbed the performance a “trainwreck” performance and apparently, his performance raised the concern of his children.
Improvisation gone wrong
Fate wasn’t on Billy Ray Cyrus’ side, as the country singer was hit with a plethora of technical difficulties but they weren’t enough to stop him from improvising in front of a huge crowd.
He tried to sing Old Town Road a cappella but the performance was disastrous, as he was overheard asking the crew if his guitar was working.
The audience was far from pleased
In addition, Billy frustratedly asked the audience, “Y’all want me to sing more or you just want me to get the h*** off the stage?” This left the audience not the least bit satisfied, calling the performance a “trainwreck” and “embarrassing.”
Billy tried to brush it off
Billy posted a photo of him performing on Instagram and wrote a caption that said: “I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me,” in an attempt to brush the performance issue off.
He thought it was “rock n roll”
He continued in his post, saying: “I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night and I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says ‘you’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to h***. I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!”
His son, Trace, was nothing but concerned
Trace also took to Instagram to post a throwback picture of younger him and Billy as he excitedly joined his dad on stage.
Trace is actually the son of Tish Cyrus and Bexter Neal Helson. When Trace was four, Billy adopted him while he was married to Tisch. Tisch and Billy divorced in 2022.
Trace Reminisces
In the post‘s caption, it read: “Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life.”
Trace was sad that the man he deeply idolized was now unrecognizable, feeling like the world had beaten him down and everyone could see it but Billy himself.
Trace and his sisters want to help
The caption continued, saying: “You may be upset with me for posting this but I really could care less at this point. Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away.”
He added: “We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it.”
Noah, in particular, misses her dad deeply
“Noah desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though,” Trace continued in his heartfelt post.
He has nothing but love for him
“Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now. As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad,” Trace desperately said.
Could it be an addiction?
“We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing.. I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.” Trace also mentioned this in his post.
“You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you,” Trace concluded.
It is not public what Billy Ray Cyrus struggles with but it raises questions and concerns.
