Valerie Harper has died on Friday morning after a long battle with brain cancer, her family confirmed to ABC .
Valerie was best known for her role as Rhoda Morgenstern on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”.

She also starred in its spinoff, Rhoda from 1974 until 1978.
In 2013, she was diagnosed with leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, a rare and incurable form of brain cancer.

She also battled lung cancer in 2009, and was given just three months to live — defying the odds.
“‘Incurable’ is such a concise word. I was terrified,” she said .
Ed Asner, Valerie’s former co-star, took to Twitter Friday evening to share his condolences.
RIP, Valerie.
