Singer and songwriter Bebe Rexha made a stunning appearance at the Met Gala on Monday, May 5.
But some people overstepped as they made rude comments on her weight, prompting the star to share sensitive details about her health.
Bebe Rexha made her Met debut
The pop star made her Met Gala debut on Monday when she wore a Christian Siriano gown to the high-profile fashion event.
But while many thought she looked stunning in her outfit, others unfortunately took it as an opportunity to make unwelcome comments about her body.
Azealia Banks commented on it online
American singer Azealia Banks took to X/Twitter to make a trolling comment on Rexha’s body as the Met Gala was taking place.
Banks took a jab at Rexha’s weight, saying, “Sis gives me – hormonal birth control implant or something.”
Rexha responded to her
Following Banks’ unwelcome comments on Rexha’s body, the In The Name of Love singer responded by sharing details about her intimate health battles.
She struggles with PCOS and has lost a pregnancy
In a now-deleted post, Rexha wrote, “I’m so tired of people commenting on my weight. I have PCOS and struggle with infertility. I got pregnant, and it didn’t work out and I’ve been carrying that pain in silence. I never owed anyone that truth, but maybe now you’ll think twice before commenting on anyone’s body.”
People have also come to Rexha’s defense
Under Banks’ tweet, many people didn’t like the unprompted comment on Rexha’s weight and came to her defense. One person wrote, “You sure are a hater aren’t you. We, as decent humans, should lift eachother up, not tear eachother down.”
Another also pointed out, “Girl she’s on the carpet and you’re not.”
Rexha also directly responded to Banks
Bebe Rexha also responded directly to Banks’ tweet, writing, “And you might want to jump on some type of therapy sis, lexapro worked great for me. something that helps with the deep rooted sadness and chaos you keep projecting. Healing looks good on everyone. Try it.”
Rexha has opened up about her health battles before
The singer and songwriter has been honest about her battle with PCOS over the past few years, a hormonal disorder that can often affect a person’s sensitivity to insulin, causing them to gain weight regardless of their lifestyle.
But it’s really nobody’s business how people live their lives or how that may affect how they look.
