HBO smash hit Euphoria has seemingly survived the recent round of cuts the company made regarding programming, meaning its third season is still well on its way, having been officially renewed back in February.
However, it seems that some fan-favorite characters will not be returning this time around, namely Katherine Hernandez, played by Barbie Ferreira . She confirmed this yesterday on her Instagram story.

One of ‘Euphoria’s stars will not be returning for the third season.
Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat in the show’s first two seasons, has confirmed that she will not be reprising the role again.
She shared this news via an Instagram story.
She posted a piece of framed fanart of Kat drawn by co-star Hunter Schafer.
On top of the image, she wrote, “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye.”
She clearly adored the character.
“I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today,” she continued, “I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”
This announcement comes after some rumors regarding on-set tension.
Reportedly, Ferreira wasn’t getting along with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson, during the second season. She did already state that those rumors aren’t true , but they’ve popped up again now that she’s leaving.
No matter her reason, she will surely be missed.
Not only is she an incredible actress, but the character of Kat was incredibly compelling and a joy to watch.
Hopefully Ferreira’s future is full of other amazing projects where her talent will shine!
