After the infamous IT author Stephen King decided to bid X (formerly Twitter) farewell in November 2024, he made his surprise comeback on February 20, vocalizing his opinions on US President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
The mastermind behind the many horrifying and twisted novels told people to reach out to him on Mark Zuckerburg’s Threads, but something pushed him to come back to now-Musk’s platform.
Why King left X in November
In a pinned post, the Dr. Sleep author explained his reasons for leaving the platform, saying: “I’m leaving Twitter. Tried to stay, but the atmosphere has just become too toxic. Follow me on Threads, if you like.”
He then made his comeback
A few days ago, King made his surprise comeback, saying: “I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?”
People were divided in half, with some of them not wanting him back and wondering why he was on the platform, while others welcomed him with open arms.
He had zero chills when it came down to Trump and Musk
The second thing he chose to write after greeting the people was this: “Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving dips**t! Goes double for Elon!” Which sparked controversy and wreaked havoc online.
Not the first time he criticized the pair
After Trump won the presidential elections for the second time, King wrote on Threads that Musk was “running the show” for Trump, saying:
“You can’t call Elon Musk the President-elect, because he wasn’t elected. In fact, having been born in Pretoria, he is ineligible to become president. Nonetheless, he is running the show. You know that, but it bears repeating.”
The author also took to BlueSky
A week before his return to X, the author wrote: “Trump and Musk are basically ignoring the Constitution they — Trump, at least — took an oath to defend.”
While a day before his comeback, he wrote on BlueSky as well: “Just when you think Donald Trump cannot sink lower or be more shameful, today he’s blaming Ukraine for the war and calling Zelensky a dictator, when he knows perfectly well that Putin’s constant re-elections are put-up jobs.”
Musk’s stance in the hierarchy

The pair, Musk and Trump, have joined forces together in the White House where Musk is in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Later, however, the White House described Musk as the senior adviser to the president and he had no authority over DOGE.
