For those of you who remember, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone used to be in a pretty big feud.
Throughout the ’80s and ’90s, the two action stars were always competing to see who could get the bigger box office.
Both of them were ripped action icons, and both wanted to be number 1.
It all culminated in 1992, with a movie called ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!”
It was an awful movie that Stallone only ended up doing 1) Because Arnold was going into comedy, and thus so did Stallone and 2) Because Arnold tricked him into doing it.
Arnold went on Kimmel recently to talk about Chris Pratt dating his daughter, the California wildfires and of course, ‘Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot’
Here’s the story of how Arnold tricked Stallone into doing it:
“I read the script, and it was a piece of s—. Let’s be honest. I say to myself, I’m not going to do this movie…Then they went to Sly, and Sly called me, have they ever talked to you about doing this movie? And I said, yes, I was thinking about doing it. This is a really brilliant idea, this movie. When he heard that, because he was in competition, he said, ‘Whatever it takes, I’ll do the movie.’ And of course the movie went major into the toilet.”
Of course, Stallone couldn’t take this lying down.
He took to Instagram and Twitter to address Schwarzenegger’s story about the film, hitting him back with a friendly jab.
It was an alright comeback, for sure, but it’s not as good as tricking someone into an awful movie.
