When a man bought a guitar at an auction signed by Taylor Swift only to smash it up, the internet wasn’t pleased. Well, it appears the joke was on him as the mega-famous singer didn’t even sign the guitar. Here are the details of this wild story.
A Texas fundraiser claimed to be auctioning off a guitar autographed by Taylor Swift.

The organization posted on Facebook that their auction would include a guitar signed by Taylor Swift herself, which seemed like a great way to raise money.
Anything signed by Taylor is likely to draw interest.

But, the highest bidder did something shocking.
The highest bidder at the auction purchased the guitar for $4,000. That’s a significant amount of money, so you’d assume this person really loves Taylor Swift or bought it for someone who does.
However, instead of appreciating the guitar, he bought it only to immediately smash it with a hammer right after winning.
The video of destroying the guitar went viral.

The short clip shows an older man destroying the guitar. The video gathered millions of views, and many people were upset. It seemed silly to buy something that expensive only to smash it up, especially because many people would have appreciated the guitar.
Although, a few people did think it was funny.
Turns out, the guitar wasn’t even authentic.

This fact makes the video seem even weirder.

While many people have strong opinions about Taylor Swift, both good and bad, smashing something you spent that much money on just seems unnecessary.
Many people online felt the man was trying to look cool or prove a point after Swift endorsed Kamala Harris, although his exact reasons for destroying the guitar are unknown.
At the end of the day, Swift has the last laugh.

What do you think of this whole story?
