I’m not going to suggest for even a moment that I’m a home decor guru. I mean, I’ve spent my fair amount of time falling asleep to HGTV, but I’m not exactly a property brother, you know?
Still, I think I know the difference between a charming accent piece and something that is best used to start a fire. Leave it to the home decorating geniuses at Anthropologie to offer up something best used to start fires as home decor, however, and somehow make it a roaring success.

Anthropologie is known for its eclectic offerings, but they usually seem more carefully curated than this bundle of twigs for sale.
I mean, it’s a bunch of twigs. I take these to the curb for pick-up on the regular. Anthropologie decided to wager that their customers would shell out $42 for them, once they’d tied them up with two pieces of plain brown twine.
$42! Or, if you’re British, you get to pay even more for things that literally fall off a tree and into your yard.
Okay, I don’t exactly know what a fair price for 20 birch twigs tied up with string is, because that seems like a crazy thing to purchase. But I do know that there would rightly be hell to pay if I brought that bundle home with a receipt that said $42 on it.
Many of the folks who encountered Anthropologie’s bundle had a similar reaction.
Just as weird, Anthropologie offered to let you pay for your twigs in four installments of $10.50. So nice of them to provide flexible payment plans for sticks.
You have to love that people even included their dogs in the action.
A simple game of fetch could turn into quite the cottage industry for a determined owner and their dedicated pooch who have access to nature and twine.
Guys, even Dictionary.com couldn’t resist digging Anthropologie over this.
You know it’s bad when the dictionary is dragging you on Twitter. Surely it’s time to pack up shop and hang your head in defeat at that point, right? Well, not so much, because Anthropologie showed us all.
They sold out. The twigs sold out.
Is it because they were imported from…somewhere? Because they’re nice looking sticks or something? Did they only ever have enough for family members?
I don’t even know anymore.
