Anne Hathaway is one of the most notable and successful actresses in Hollywood. She is so A-list it’s insane. However, can you believe she actually hates her name? Like hates the name Anne. I know, right?
Now, the 38-year-old is revealing the disdain for her name after a wonderful and enchanting 20+ years in the biz.
It’s hard to pick just one of my favorite Anne Hathaway movies.
The Princess Diaries , The Devil Wears Prada , Bride Wars , and Les Mis are just a few of the films that made me fall deeper in love with the diverse and beyond talented actress.
In addition to having a successful professional life, Anne is also ROCKING IT in her personal life.
She and hubby, Adam Shulman, have been married for nine years and have two sons together.
As a side note, Anne truly makes the most gorgeous pregnant mamma — there is NOTHING she can’t do!
Now, Ms. Hathaway is revealing to us LIFELONG fans that she in fact *hates* her stage name, Anne.

Yes, you read that right!
While speaking on The Tonight Show earlier this week, Anne Ms. Hathaway made the surprising confession.
“Call me Annie — everybody, everybody, call me Annie, please,” she said at the beginning of her interview.
“It’s…can we talk about my name for a second? When I was 14 years old, I did a commercial, and I had to get my SAG card and they asked me, ‘What do you want your name to be?'” she explained.
“And I was like, ‘Well, it should be my name. My name’s Anne Hathaway.'”
“So that seemed like the right choice, but it never occurred to me that for the rest of my life, people will call me Anne.”
She went on to reveal that no one in her personal life calls her Anne, except her mother occasionally.
“The only person who calls me Anne is my mother and she only does it when she’s really mad at me, like really mad,” she said.

“So every time I step out in public and someone calls my name, I think they’re going to yell at me.”
She explained that even on film sets, crew members come up with workarounds so they don’t call her Anne.

“People are like, ‘Anne!’ And I’m like ‘What? What did I do?'” she laughed.
“People are so lovely they don’t want to be presumptuous and so I think they come up with workarounds on set because the truth is nobody’s comfortable with calling me Anne ever,” she explained.

“It doesn’t fit. I’m an Annie.”
If Annie isn’t your cup of tea, she has a few other suggestions.
“People call me Miss H, people call me Hath, so feel free, call me anything but Anne.”
I shall never call my beloved Annie Hath “Anne” ever again!
Thankfully, it seems the fans are already switching gears.
“We grew up in the same town and – can confirm, she always went by Annie,” tweeted one user.
“I honestly did not think I could be more charmed by her,” tweeted another.
I’m relieved everyone is respecting Annie’s wishes!
“Hearing that Anne Hathaway actually goes by Annie is so cute. I love that for us,” agreed one fan that’s in the know.
“When I saw Julie Andrews on her book tour, I remember her saying ‘Annie’ a few times in reference to Anne Hathaway. I have wondered since if that’s what she usually went by! How funny!” shared another.
I’m so relieved to now be an EDUCATED Annie fan!
