People across the U.S. are being told to grab a few key items now, before prices shoot up. For no other reason other than the new tariffs President Trump recently rolled out.
Since he got back into the White House in January, he’s been piling on tariffs left and right.
On April 2, he announced a 10% global tax on imports. And for a list of 60 countries he’s not too happy with, the rates are even higher.
Japan’s got hit with 24%. South Africa? 30%. Vietnam is getting slapped with a whopping 46%.
Trump announced new tariffs on ‘Liberation Day’
He made the big announcement from the Rose Garden at the White House, calling it ‘Liberation Day’ for America.
Prices are expected to skyrocket quickly for everyday goods
Experts are warning that this move is going to drive up the cost of a bunch of everyday stuff.
If you want any of those things, it might be smart to buy them now, while they’re still affordable.
The tariffs went into effect earlier this month
These new tariffs officially kicked in on April 5.
And they dropped at the same time as some pretty wild shifts in the market.
Stocks crash and the dollar sinks after tariff news
People have been watching the markets take a dive.
Global stocks are down, and the U.S. dollar? It just hit its lowest point in six months.
The S&P 500 lost $2 trillion in value after Trump dropped the news about these tariffs hitting around 60 countries.
Experts recommend buying these 10 essential items now
Because of all this, shoppers are being told to stock up on things like bananas and avocados — stuff we import from other places.
If you’re thinking about getting a car, this might be the time.
Same goes for washers and dryers.
Here’s the list of ten things folks might want to grab sooner than later:
- Bananas
- Avocados
- Coffee
- Tea
- Cars
- Furniture

Obama speaks out against Trump’s economic policy
Not everyone’s on board with how Trump is handling things.
Former President Barack Obama didn’t hold back during a talk with College President Steven Tepper.
“I have deep differences of opinion with my most immediate successor — who’s now president once again.”
“There are a host of policies that we could be discussing where I have strong opinions,” Obama said, adding that he feels the government’s sense of principle has been “eroded.”
Obama shares deeper concerns beyond tariffs
Obama kept going, saying, “When I watch some of what’s going on now, it does not — look, I don’t think what we just witnessed in terms of economic policy and tariffs is going to be good for America, but that’s a specific policy.
“I’m more deeply concerned with a federal government that threatens universities if they don’t give up students who are exercising their right to free speech.”
The tariffs are on pause, but don’t wait too long
Even though Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs have been paused for about 60 more days, you’re still urged not to wait around.
Truth is, things have been pretty unpredictable since Trump got back in office. One day it’s all about global taxes, the next day he hits pause — and who really knows what’s coming next?
So if you’ve been eyeing any of those ten items, it’s probably best to grab them now, just in case things flip again without warning.
