Any dog owner will know that there’s a vastly different energy level between adult dogs and their puppy counterparts. That’s not to say that they won’t get along, but it might take time for an older dog to warm up to a much younger one.
So when Anna, the human behind the @billiethelab_ TikTok account posted about babysitting an older Labrador dog (while having two young puppies at home), the internet was absolutely in love with the dogs’ reactions to one another. Specifically, they were just loving how the older dog, Louise, was simply having none of the puppies’ antics.

In the 23-second TikTok, which now boasts nearly 2 million views, Anna shows Louise, the older Labrador Retriever, sitting around and more or less ignoring Billie and Gus (the chocolate and golden Lab pups, respectively), who happened to be roughhousing and playing around.
At one point, Billie eagerly sits next to Louise, who continues to remain unfazed by the puppy. The hilarious clip ends with Louise sitting on the other side of the room, far away from the blissfully unaware puppies, who continue to play as they do.
The Comment Section Was Filled With People Who Couldn’t Get Enough of the Video
So many people found it hilarious how Louise continued to sit around, barely making eye contact with either puppy. It truly was as if she wanted nothing to do with them, to the point where she seemingly acted like they didn’t exist.
According to Newsweek , older dogs often have a harder time warming up to puppies, as older puppies find them fairly annoying. But it’s possible to get an older and younger dog to form a bond if you have the patience to do so.
For Some Commenters, Louise’s Reaction Was Pretty Relatable
Some people equated Louise ignoring the puppies to themselves having to deal with children or younger adults. It can be difficult to find the patience to interact with someone with much more energy than you do!
And There Were Many Still Who Knew How Puppies Can Be, but Commended Anna’s Dogs for Respecting Louise’s Boundaries
As several commenters pointed out, the puppies seemed to respect the elder dog. Even when Billie tried to engage with Louise, he didn’t try to push her when he realized she was uninterested in playing with him.
