Let’s be honest, we spend most of our time on the internet looking at memes, giggling to ourselves and sending them to our friends that we think would find it equally funny.
But memes don’t magically make themselves. They are usually comprised of awkward celebrity moments, and it was Rami Malek’s time to shine.
Although Rami is a very talented actor, he’s had some seriously awkward and embarrassing moments.

For instance, right after winning an Oscar for his performance in Bohemian Rhapsody , he fell off the stage.
And the time he thought he was taking a photo with a fan, but she was taking a video, and he didn’t like that very much.
This whole situation looked uncomfortable for both parties. I hate watching it, but I couldn’t stop.
But none of those things hold a candle to this one.

Rami filmed a commercial for Mandarin Oriental hotels.
Sounds totally harmless.
So, their logo is a fan and Rami is listing things he’s a fan of in the video. Get it?
The problem was mainly that he was listing the things he’s a fan of a very staggered, awkward sounding way.
He paused for so long in between everything he was saying.
It was like he had no idea what he was going to say before he said it.
Here’s everything he said he’s a fan of:

“Freddie Mercury and Queen. I’m a fan of my mom; she’s got my back. I’m a fan of chamomile tea. I’m a fan of handwritten letters. I’m a fan of… classic movies. I’m a fan of looking sharp regardless of the occasion. I’m a fan of random encounters. I’m a fan of traveling by train. I’m a fan of equal opportunities for all. I’m a fan of mischief. I’m a fan of being exactly who I wanna be.”
Everything he listed was completely normal, and respectable things to be a fan of.
It wasn’t so much what he was saying , it was the way he was saying it.
He was staring into the camera with a very dead, crazy look in his eyes, and speaking very nervously.
It was enough to make any sound person feel uncomfortable.
So, obviously the internet is having a field day with it.

Did we ever really expect anything less of them? This is just what the internet does.
This person would like to have an open, honest discussion about what’s going on with Rami. Is he awkward? a murderer? Or maybe a mix of both?

We’re all dying to discuss this.
This person pointed out that the camera work actually made matters worse.

Slowly zooming in on anyone’s face is awkward. But if you combine it with uncomfortable, slow talking, and it’s about a million times worse.
This person is actually loves Rami’s awkwardness. They find it charming.

They’ll probably be his first victim. I’m calling it now. Mark my words, people!
Great. Now I never want to get in the car with an Uber driver ever again.

I swear this has happened in every horror movie I’ve ever seen.
Rami Malek’s basement probably feels so attacked right now.

This is hilarious, and also very creepy at the same time.
All I know is if Rami Malek ever invites me into his basement, I’m running, ’cause it’s probably a trap.
This person went as far as dubbing Rami’s voice over Hannibal Lecter’s.
It’s funny and scary because it actually seems like it could be real.
I just got a chill…
This is the stuff nightmares are made of TBH.
Watching this has made me want to sleep with one eye open, just incase.
In all seriousness, I’m sure Rami is a total sweetheart who just accidentally did something awkward AF, and regrets it now with every fiber of his being.
He’ll eventually get over it. But in the meantime, here’s the full video:
