If you somehow missed the Cardi B and Nicki Minaj fiasco of 2018, let’s just say, they had a pretty complicated relationship — and that’s sugar-coating it.
Just when we thought they had put their drama to bed, things got even more awkward.
Okay, so, here’s a recap of their entire feud:

To combat all the rap fans trying to make them feel like they automatically had to hate each other and compete for the top spot of best female rapper , Cardi and Nicki collaborated on a song together called “Motorsport”, along with Migos — their common ground.
Amidst rumors floating around that they already hated each other and that their “Motorsport” verses were actually aimed at each other, they both insisted that there wasn’t any bad blood between them.

At this point, we were confident that there was no rift between the two rappers.
In April 2018, in an interview, Nicki revealed that the drama surrounding “Motorsport” did “hurt” her.

She also revealed that she never felt like Cardi ever really respected her, or was thankful to be on a song with her. “I had never seen her show me genuine love in an interview ,” Nicki said.
But that was the last any of us heard about it for the following seven months.
But if you thought the dust had settled there, you’d be terrible mistaken. The worst was still yet to come.

In September, during the New York Fashion Week at a Harper’s Bazaar party, things came to a boiling point.
This was the tea of my lifetime.
There was a lot of yelling, cussing, and an airborne shoe aimed right for Nicki’s head.

Yes. you read that right. Cardi B took her shoe off and threw it at Nicki.
Luckily, she missed and was escorted off the premises.
Cardi took to Instagram shortly after, ranting about the events that had just unfolded.

We gathered that the reason Cardi tried to assault Nicki with her shoe, is because she thought Nicki had been sneakily dissing her and questioning her abilities as a mother.
One month later, there was a small glimmer of hope that the two may have called a truce.
Nicki tweeted, letting fans know that she was done with the drama and wanted to focus on more positive things.
Cardi reposted the tweet on Instagram, with a caption that suggested things were officially smoothed over.
Of course, they weren’t exactly BFF’s or anything. But the good news was that they were no longer at each other’s throats.

So now, here we are — six months later.
A Variety reporter asked Cardi on Friday whether or not she sees a future where it’s possible for her and Nicki to work together again.
“Is there ever a chance you and Nicki would make up and perform together?,” he asked.
She awkwardly glanced to the left and then blankly stared at the reporter for far too long— mustering up the best answer she could.

She started laughing at the thought of performing with Nicki, giving us an answer without having to actually answer.
One fan thought either the question being asked or Cardi’s response to it was immature.

Or they meant the entire situation was childish from the start.
Another fan wrote that everyone should just let the whole thing go.

They tweeted that everyone needs to let Nicki and Cardi do their own thing and stop questioning one about the other.
This person pointed out that we should be supporting the “unity among women of color”.

They wrote that Cardi B and Nicki Minaj ever working together again would be a positive thing that we would probably all be supportive of.
Some people think that the interviewer should not have asked such an awkward and unnecessary question in the first place.

The went on to add that people should respect each other instead of asking risky questions just to get a rise out of a celeb.
This fan thinks that the reporter that interviewed Cardi B — asking her if she and Nicki Minaj would ever make-up and perform together should be fired.

While other fans are just hopeful that Cardi and Nicki can hash out their “beef” and drop a “fire track” together.
Here’s the whole awkward interview:
Do you think Cardi’s response was the right one?
