Let’s face it — mothers-in-law can get a bad rap sometimes. You can blame movies like Monster in Law , for example. But not all MILs are created equal. That’s right. There are those who end up being even more wonderful than your own mother, and that’s a fact.
So, I’m going to dedicate this article to showcase the true kindness of those MILs who go out of their way to welcome their children’s spouses into their homes and hearts. Let’s get started.
The Best Cat Sitter

“My mother-in-law is taking care of our cat while we’re overseas. She sends me a picture of Steve enjoying dryer-fresh clothes every laundry day.”
Steve is living his best life. Better watch out. He may want to stay with Grandma from now on, ha, ha!
This Talented Crocheter

“It’s important to me that the people of social media know that my mother-in-law crocheted her grandcat a couch with a coordinating afghan.”
Oh my goodness, I so want this for our cat.
This Unique Skill

“My mother-in-law knows I’m into Marvel, so she made me Groot using a technique called ‘paper quilling.'”
Wow! I’ve never heard of that, but now that I see it, I can’t get over how cool it is. What do you think of that?
This Talented Quilter

“My mother-in-law handmade this blanket for my kids! The score and time are their birthdays!”
Whoa! You don’t say? I always wanted to learn how to quilt. This lady here is pretty lucky to have such a talented MIL. Am I right?
These Fast Friends

“I asked my mother-in-law if she checked on my dog while I was at work, I got this picture as a reply.”
Ha, ha! How precious is that? Obviously, the pupper totally approves of this mother-in-law. I hope he doesn’t start liking her more than his real mom.
This Doggo Portrait

Speaking of cute puppies, this person’s MIL hand-painted her best friend, and judging by the look of this, he definitely approves of his likeness. Aww, how adorable is this, eh? I love it, and now I want one for myself.
This Christmas Spirit

“This is my father-in-law. My mother-in-law spends thousands of dollars every year buying different items so my FIL can spread cheer at the holidays by giving away gifts at hospitals, churches, schools, and shelters. He gives school supplies, toys, and other items to spread cheer.”
How amazing is that?
This Kindness To Strangers

“My mother-in-law paints many of these stones so that they can be left in public places for strangers to find.”
Honestly, if I found one of these hand-painted rocks somewhere I would totally take it home. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
These Best Buds

“Dog is Sunny. He was with his previous owner who kept him in a cage all day, got tired, and was about to put him down at 6 months, but my mother-in-law adopted him. Sunny turned 16 this year and is the goodest boy ever!”
Aww!
This Thoughtful Future MIL

“My future mother-in-law brought us ‘supplies’ for self-isolation. She’s so sweet.”
Well, this couple can rest assured that with this cool mother-in-law, they’ll never get bored. I wonder what else she has up her sleeves, hee-hee.
This Beautiful Gesture

“My mother-in-law set up a sweetheart table for my fiancé and I on what was supposed to be our wedding day.”
Ah, let me guess. The wedding got postponed due to Covid, huh? I have been there and feel for this couple here. But I bet this at least made up for it. At least I really hope so.
This Special Wedding Cake

“The wedding cake my mother-in-law made for my wedding. She had kept it a top-secret project until the day of for me and my bride. The cake is a ‘fake cake’ but nonetheless we were really surprised!”
Holy, moly! That is the most elaborate wedding cake I have ever seen. I get it’s not real, but still, it’s a work of art, no?
This MIL’s Legacy

“Someone said that others may also appreciate seeing this. My mother-in-law’s legacy of quilts she made for her family and friends displayed on pews for her funeral this morning.”
Wow! Can you believe she made that many quilts in her lifetime? That’s pretty incredible, huh? I’m so happy to see that her family honored her in such a special way at her funeral. I bet she’s smiling at them from above.
This Gorgeous Christmas Gift

“My MIL sewed this beautiful stocking for me for Christmas! I feel that all this love and hard work needs to be shared!”
Okay, I must say this is the most gorgeous handmade Christmas stocking I’ve ever seen. I’m super jealous of this lucky person now.
This Kind-Hearted Soul

“A few weeks ago, my mother-in-law saw this family casually strolling around her backyard. She has bought duck food and placed a pool for the family ducks to enjoy.”
And that just made my day. Isn’t this the sweetest thing you’ve ever seen?
This Tight Bond

“The first month spent at my mother-in-law’s house vs. 1 year later.”
Aww, would you look at that? How sweet is it to see the bond between a mother-in-law and daughter go from that to such a tight bond a year later, huh?
This Special Gift

“I’m 32 and my mother-in-law made me my favorite gift ever!”
Wow! How did she even do that? As I said, I’ve always wanted to learn how to quilt, but this definitely takes things to the next level, huh?
This Fitting Gesture

“My mother-in-law insisted we should have kids, so she got us these for our wedding present. Meet Kanye and Taylor.”
Kanye and Taylor? I see where this is coming from, ha, ha. I hope these two become better friends than the other duo.
Wow! Wasn’t this so sweet?

I can only hope that my relationship with my mother-in-law can be as wonderful as these examples here. And I’m going to do everything in my power to be worthy of my future MIL’s love. Which story touched your heart the most? I would love to know.
